Role Description
The Infrastructure Analyst â Storage will join an already established Platform team within CBS, providing a level of technical knowledge to undertake the troubleshooting and resolution of production incidents or problems independently, escalating to Senior Engineers if required. The role involves completing tasks to agreed levels of quality and within stated timescales with minimal supervision, looking for improvement opportunities within the team and its processes, and contributing to team efficiency through the creation of accurate technical documentation where required.
Responsibilities
- Independently troubleshoot and resolve production service incidents.
- Undertake technical tasks such as patching, allocating storage, maintaining scripts and configuring backups.
- Effectively prioritise tasks to ensure highâpriority activities are completed first.
- Support peers and other team members, providing guidance and assistance as needed.
Required Skills
- VMware and enterprise skills such as vRealize, SRM, and Operations Manager.
- Experience with Cisco UCS infrastructure (compute, networking, and storage combined).
- Good knowledge of storage technologies vSAN and VxRail.
- Experience with Linux commandâline technologies (IBM Storage operates on a Unix interface).
- Exposure to and application of cluster management within Spectrum Scale.
- Familiarity with Spectrum Scale protocols, including GPFS, NFS, and SMB in an activeâactive topology.
Specific Skills
- Demonstrable level of knowledge in the chosen technical discipline.
- Essential experience of working in a complex, pressurised production environment.
- Financial services experience desirable, but not essential.
Essential Skills
- Exposure to and application of IBM Flash Systems â knowledge of replication using Global Mirror, Metro Mirror and Change Volumes.
- Exposure to and application of cluster management within Spectrum Scale, Oracle and ESXi environments.
- Knowledge of GPFS, NFS, and SMB in activeâactive topology.
- Awareness of GKLM (SKLM) and how actions can affect availability.
- Provision and redaction of storage across the IBM storage estate â all technologies.
- Experience with Linux commandâline technologies.
- Experience managing tickets using ServiceNow.
- Appreciation of cloud technologies (AWS) and associated features.
- Knowledge of AWS server administration and features.
- Experience working within an Agile delivery environment.
- Understanding of VMware products including vSphere, vRealize and related technologies.
- Understanding of Cisco UCS & HPE infrastructure.
- Understanding of virtualization architectures and supporting experience.
