Create, define, and own the visual design system for your assigned brand - establishing the rules, components, and principles that govern how the brand looks and behaves across every channel and format.

Develop the foundational brand elements: colour, typography, imagery style, iconography, layout principles, motion language, and design patterns - with a clear rationale for every decision.

Design craft & execution:

  • Master-level typography, colour, composition, and image direction - your craft should be demonstrably superior to what the system alone would produce.
  • Art direct photography, illustration, and other creative disciplines with a clear and confident visual brief - knowing how to get the best from specialist creatives and production partners.
  • Expert across Adobe Creative Suite and Figma; comfortable working across both print and digital production environments.

Brand guardianship & governance:

  • Proactively identify where the brand's visual expression can be strengthened, modernised, or extended - bring proposals rather than waiting to be asked.
  • Stay current on design tools, AI-assisted creative workflows, motion design, and emerging visual technologies - and understand their implications for the brand system.

The Brand Designer makes visual identity, design system, and brand governance decisions for their assigned brand, working in close partnership with the Principal Creative.

The Skills Required:

Essential experience:

  • 5-8 years in brand design, visual identity, or creative design roles within agencies, studios, or in-house teams.
  • Portfolio demonstrating original brand identity creation - from strategy through to design system - not just execution within an existing system.
  • Proven ability to build and document design systems: colour, typography, component libraries, usage guidelines, and pattern documentation.
  • Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Figma; experience maintaining brand assets in Frontify or equivalent DAM/brand management platform.
  • Experience working on major consumer brands - ideally in telecommunications, technology, or other high-profile B2C categories.

Highly desirable:

  • Experience evolving or refreshing an established brand identity - not just maintaining it.
  • Experience working across digital and physical brand environments (retail, experiential, OOH).
  • Familiarity with brand strategy principles - positioning, purpose, values, and audience definition.
  • Award-winning or industry-recognised brand identity or design system work.

Education & professional development:

  • Degree or qualification in graphic design, visual communication, brand design, or related discipline (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Active engagement with the brand and design industry - conferences, publications, and the wider design community.
