Our Washington site has an exciting opportunity for a Transport Supervisor to join our team on a full time permanent basis. As a Transport Supervisor you will be responsible for leading the night traffic operations and driver team in ensuring KPIs and SLA are met, managing vehicle utilisation and ensuring drivers are given clear and precise instructions.
Salary: £36,000-£38,100 per annum.
Shift: 4 on 4 off, 6pm-6am.
Key Duties Of a Transport Supervisor
- Ensure the shift is running to optimum cost effectiveness by ensuring the correct driver, agency and 3rd party usage.
- Proactively manage the Transport Planners and Operators by coaching them to ensure the right decisions are made to avoid conflict and cost.
- Ensure best possible On Time despatch is achieved.
- Working to support driver training and allowing for the availability of drivers for all training and development activities.
- Supporting the wider depot cost effectiveness and operating channels by removing barriers to ensure optimal working.
- Ensure accidents/incidents are investigated and appropriate action plans are put in place.
- Taking the lead in conflict resolution across the shift ensuring processes are followed and outcomes are fair.
- Maintain and update the information on fleet availability, trailer service information etc.
- Effective and timely internal and external communications.
- Update and deal with Motor Collision and Personal injury packs.
Qualifications
- Good national geographical knowledge.
- The ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.
- Strong IT skills including Microsoft office packages.
- Excellent communication skills in order to deliver accurate information.
- Thoroughness/attention to detail.
- Able to work effectively in a team.
- Knowledge & experience of tachograph / driving rules and regulations.
- Transport experience ideally in a FMCG environment.
