Title: Communications Specialist

Contract Length: 4 Months (Day Rate based)

Location: Heston ~ 2-3 days in office weekly.

Role:

We are partnered with a leading services business to the aviation industry who are embarking on a large IT-led change transformation initiative and are looking for a Communications Specialist to join on a 4 month initial day rate contract.

The interim Internal Communications Specialist will continue to shape and deliver the internal communication strategy. This role involves strategic planning and execution of communication initiatives for audiences across various sites in the UK. This role requires union communications experience.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Leadership, HR, and key stakeholders.
  • Plan and execute the internal communications strategy.
  • Develop the annual communications plan and budget.
  • Ensure consistent messaging and understanding of key changes.
  • Lead daily marketing and communication activities, focusing on change management.
  • Create content for various internal channels (e-newsletters, briefings, Viva Engage, email, intranet, video).
  • Generate management information to demonstrate communication effectiveness.
  • Refresh and maintain the intranet site.
  • Contribute to performance management of indirect reports.
  • Develop and implement integrated marketing communication plans.
  • Oversee creation of marketing collateral (brochures, flyers, presentations, ads).
  • Manage digital marketing efforts (website, SEO, social media).
  • Coordinate public relations activities (press releases, media outreach).
  • Monitor and analyse market trends and competitor activities.
  • Plan and execute events (trade shows, exhibitions, corporate events).
  • Develop and deliver regular business updates.
  • Use tools and techniques to create engaging materials.
  • Work with project managers on communication and engagement activities.
  • Ensure a coherent picture of change for all audience groups.

Must Haves:

  • 5+ years experience in-house communications functions, trained in a corporate environment
  • Strong knowledge of communication and engagement best practices and tools
  • Proven ability to work in a small team, taking ownership of a wide variety of responsibilities
  • Experience in the airline, logistics, or transport sector
  • Experience working in an operational and unionised environment
  • Extensive Communication and Engagement experience with a proven track record in engaging a range of audiences
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong and positive stakeholder relationships at various levels of seniority
  • Experience managing communication channels, including social, digital, and traditional channels
  • Experience coordinating communication activity across a range of project activities
  • Ability to assimilate new concepts quickly
  • Self-starter, comfortable working in an evolving environment, and confident in setting up a communication function from scratch
  • Proven ability to multitask and operate with flexibility in a fast-paced environment, meeting deadlines with resilience
