La Fosse is looking for a Senior Electronics Engineer responsible for working on New Product Development (NPD) and Maintenance of Line (MOL) projects alongside other Electronic Engineers. These projects will involve the design of Schematics, PCBs, Firmware, Cable assemblies and production support equipment, to meet our quality, regulatory, performance, time and cost targets.
The successful person would have a good understanding of the products’ safety, regulation and certification requirements. The right candidate would continually develop and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the wider engineering team including reductions in time to market, product costs, critical thinking, right first time, ownership and accountability.
The role will be located in St Ives, Cambridgeshire on a hybrid basis. In this role, a typical day will look like:
- Supporting various departments to develop and support Linx products, with opportunities to collaborate with many of the R&D departments (Mech, Physics, Chemistry and Software).
- Designing and supporting all Electronic systems, including: Schematic and PCB layout, high voltage circuits, power supplies, analogue and high-speed digital circuits with a good understanding of safety, EMC, thermal management and mechanical integration.
- Testing and validating designs, with experience in prototyping, debugging and modelling.
- Working alongside other Electronics Engineers to share and develop multi-functional knowledge and skills, providing input in design reviews and problem-solving support.
- Working with production and suppliers to qualify new parts and components, to address obsolescence, allocation or extended lead-times.
- Creating and delivering high-quality reports and documentation, with good attention to detail.
The essential requirements of the job include:
- Honours Degree in Electronics Engineering.
- At least 5 years of experience in a relevant industry.
- Detailed knowledge on topics including electronics engineering from first principles, sophisticated system integration, analytical skills and problem-solving ability.
- Design of products using various CAD tools, integrating mechanics, electronics and software.
