Role:
We are looking for an experienced candidate to development and delivery of Project Controls capability and capacity – tools, processes, and procedures to ensure accurate and effective planning, baselining, control & monitoring, reporting across MAPPS UK Programmes and Bids in accordance with Corporate Policies. Collaborates with Functional leads to ensure timely and accurate performance reporting, supports the achievement of PM and business operating plans.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develops, maintains and delivers the tools, processes and staffing/SME capability to support all aspects of Programme and Project Control across the business
- Aligns core PM processes, procedures and guidance to Corporate Policies, identifying deviations, supporting justification for requested waivers and recording local tailoring
- Supports Programme teams with the creation of Integrated Progamme Plans (IPPs) encompassing:
- Baseline / Budget / Scope management
- Risk and Opportunity management
- Change Management
- Action planning / Document Management
- Provides capability to deliver ongoing monitoring and control support during Programme execution including:
- Interfacing with Finance and Contracts to verify Orders, Sales and Cost data
- Reviewing Schedules and updating Estimate to complete
(may include use of Earned Value Management techniques) - Ensuring accurate Variance reporting and analysis
- Providing Input to Monthly / Quarterly Reporting (internal and external)
- Supports (and may lead) regular reviews to ensure compliance to internal process and guidance, identifying opportunities for improvement
- Ensures Client requirements for Project Planning and Reporting can be met
- Provides Project Controls guidance, coaching and training to own staff and others in the business (including Project Managers/Engineers) to ensure common understanding and to improve awareness of Project Controls generally
Overall Summary:
- Ensures major projects and program schedules and plans are integrated across company functional groups including finance, engineering, material, manufacturing, and quality.
- Tracks plans and schedules, performs risk analysis, identifies and resolves critical path and network logic conflicts.
- Utilizes Gantt, PERT, milestone charts, earned value management and other project management techniques to gauge progress and identify performance variances to facilitate focus and intervention on critical areas.
- Ensures compliance with internal program procedures and project control system guidelines.
- May lead or participate in scheduling status reviews.
Education and Experience
- Degree qualified with 7 years of prior related experience
- APM PMQ (or equivalent)
- Additional specialist training in Project Controls (incl Planning, EVM, Risk & Opportunity) desirable
- Advanced Microsoft skills (Excel and Project in particular)
- Experience with MS Project server, SharePoint, Access and PowerBI desirable
- Prior experience within Engineering and Defence sector desirable
- Prior experience of variety of projects small (£50m)
