As part of the CC330 (A330) Fleet Engineering management team, the candidate's main role will be to provide support to line and heavy maintenance groups, evaluate the discrepancies/damages/wears found by the inspectors and maintenance technicians, and provide dispositions to rectify the discrepancies and resume operation. On-site technical support at Trenton and Ottawa and liaison with OEM and vendors might be required. The review of Service Bulletins and Airworthiness Directives for integration in the maintenance program is also part of the mandate. Fields of expertise must include structures and mechanical systems as well as associated CAR delegations.

Essential Functions:

  • Read and understand manufacturing, modification drawings as well as OEM’s maintenance documentation;
  • Read and understand OEM Service Bulletins, Airworthiness Directives and Canadian Aviation Regulations (Chap. 525);
  • Investigate discrepant or damaged components and assemblies to identify the cause;
  • Design repair solution to restore form, fit and function as well as structural and mechanical system integrity of the defective components;
  • Interpret and capture load cases and margins of safety in accordance with established procedures and specifications (MIL-STD, PS and others) and validate design criteria;
  • Determine the repairs that require the intervention of specialists (stress, M&P, Avionic, Materials & Processes, Systems, etc.);
  • Categorize the damages (minor/major) using airworthiness principles;
  • Interface with the program manager, aircraft maintenance/repair technical team and the engineering team for all issues related to exemptions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's of Science in mechanical engineering, aeronautics required;
  • Bilingual French, English (oral and written) is required;
  • Production and maintenance experience an asset;
  • Experience in writing Engineering reports required;
  • Availability to provide support in AOG situation outside regular working hours;
  • Knowledge of engineering tools is an asset: CATIA V6, NASTRAN/PATRAN;
  • Experience in composite material manufacturing/repair an asset;
  • Soft skill: being a team player, diplomat, resourceful, organized, being capable to prioritise in a short delay environment, customer oriented;
  • Have strong problem solving skills;
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program;
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government of Canada Reliability status and Secret Level 2/NATO Secret security clearance;
  • Must be eligible to meet the requirements for U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
