Overview
In this role you will lead and coordinate maritime operations for USV programmes and customer trials across the UK and internationally, ensuring safe, compliant delivery of both manned and unmanned vessels. You’ll work with project managers, engineering teams and customers to plan, execute and report on trials, demonstrations and training activities. The position offers hands-on operational boat work, travel, and the chance to contribute to cutting-edge autonomous maritime technology.

Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate and execute maritime operational activities including vessel commissioning, testing and demonstrations
- Undertake FAT, HAT, SAT, operational trials and customer demonstrations for both manned and unmanned vessels
- Prepare vessels, systems and infrastructure for testing ensuring safety and compliance
- Support launch, recovery, transport and towing of vessels and equipment
- Operate or crew manned/unmanned vessels during trials and customer activities
- Coordinate logistics, resources and personnel for maritime operations
- Deliver training to customers and internal stakeholders
- Conduct routine inspections, maintenance and readiness checks on vessels
- Prepare and review risk assessments, safety documentation and trial plans
- Generate operational and progress reports and lessons learned
- Liaise with Project Managers, Engineering, customers and regulators to coordinate activities
- Support business development through demonstrations and technical presentations
- Ensure compliance with policies, quality standards, maritime law and safety requirements
- Contribute to continuous improvement of operational effectiveness, safety and customer satisfaction
- Support UK and international deployments, including extended postings at customer locations and ports
Key requirements
- Commercially Endorsed RYA/MCA Advanced Powerboat Certificate or equivalent maritime qualification
- Experience supporting maritime operations, vessel testing, commissioning, trials or deployments
- Experience operating or supporting manned and/or unmanned vessels
- Experience in multidisciplinary teamwork and coordinating across stakeholders
- Strong maritime safety knowledge and risk management
- Ability to prepare operational documentation and trial records
- Strong communication, organizational and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Full UK driving licence
- Willingness to travel extensively and work away from home for extended periods
