About This Opportunity
L3Harris UK operates at 11 sites in the United Kingdom, supporting Britain's mission to secure and strengthen the country by delivering sovereign innovation across the space, air, land, sea and cyber domains. L3Harris’ Bristol location is the Headquarters for our Maritime UK business – a leading global supplier of integrated marine control systems and simulation products for warships, submarines and high-end commercial marine vessels worldwide. Since its inception, L3Harris has continuously iterated upon our Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS) technology and successfully exported and delivered the system to over 300 vessels across 27 navies worldwide. We have additional Maritime UK sites in Burgess Hill, Barrow-In-Furness and Portchester. Together, we are powering the Royal Navy’s adoption of autonomous surface vehicle technology as well as delivering autonomous capability to UK ports, harbours and offshore energy service providers.
We are seeking a Head of Finance to lead a team of 11 people and have overall responsibility for all financial matters in the UK for L3Harris' Maritime division.

What The Role Will Involve
The responsibilities of your role will include the following:
- Set up accounting systems and ensure accounting records are maintained compliant with UK Companies Act and UK GAAP
- Prepare monthly management accounts, forecasts and annual budget
- Assist the local General Manager with monthly management reports on L3Harris' Maritime UK business performance, clearly identifying variances from plan
- Preparation of annual statutory financial statements and necessary supporting information to ensure a timely clean audit by the companies’ external auditors
- Cash management of L3Harris' Maritime UK business bank accounts and preparation of cash flow forecasts as required
- Assistance with the preparation of bid proposals for contract changes and new opportunities and review subcontractor pricing submissions
- Prepare and introduce best practice accounting policies and procedures for all L3Harris' Maritime UK business accounting matters
- Ensure sound financial controls are established and rigorously followed
- Responsible for all UK tax matters (including Corporation tax and VAT)
- Responsible for maintaining accounts and records in alignment with projects and other accounting functions
- Review & finalisation of management accounts
- Maintain accounting systems: Journal entries, general ledger, accounts receivables, accounts payable, revenue reconciliation, etc.
- Compiles data, allocates costs, and prepares reports on labour, equipment, depreciation and other operating expenses and analyses financial reporting requirements
- Ensure all monthly, quarterly & annual corporate reporting deadlines are met
- Achieve and demonstrate satisfactory compliance with corporate's "Compliance Plan for Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR)" relating to the Sarbanes‑Oxley Act
- Ensure that all corporate deadlines for testing and other requirements are met
What You'll Bring
The role requires the following experience and skills:
- Professional Accounting Qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
- Degree qualified in a relevant Finance domain, unless qualified by work experience
- Industry experience in Defence, Aerospace, Maritime or relevant domain
- Knowledge of SAP essential; involvement in an implementation would be highly desirable
- Leadership experience, managing a team of other finance professionals
- Experience of P&L management and managing financial process end-to-end for FP&A, budgeting, accounting
- Other Finance systems such as Sage, HFM is desirable but not essential
