Overview
Purpose: To supply an all-inclusive delivery product to our internal and external customer base in a timely manner to meet customer expectations. Whilst delivering a first-class service you will manage the day-to-day operational movements of our Transport Fleet at depot level, keeping our customer focus and values, but working within the legal and compliance framework laid down by regulatory bodies and within company policies.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and distribute work, compiling reports for allocation to drivers, scheduling work for the following day to plan all logistical movements from the Northampton depot to meet customer demands. This includes our Low loader's, Hiab's, and Beavertail fleet.
- Effectively manage all movements of Plant machinery, ensuring movement orders are in place prior to delivery of the products that fall within STGO.
- Manage the day to day compliance of the department.
- Ensure the department meets all administration requirements in order to achieve company P&L reports.
- Ensure that outsourced transport is cost effective and that they meet customer and company expectations and standards.
- Ensure a high level of service and maintenance is achieved through working closely with the service department and drivers.
- Liaise with customers on a daily basis to ensure deliveries and collections of plant are to their expectations taking into consideration access and time restrictions.
- Ensure that the department administration is completed, checked and filed as required.
- Ensure we improve vehicle efficiency and MPG through routing vehicles to achieve best results whilst maintaining maximum utilization of the fleet.
- Work with Transport /Haulage Compliance Manager to improve driver behavior and timely accident reporting to the Insurance department, ensuring ALL Legal requirements are followed.
- Work with Head of Transport and Administrator to effectively manage tachograph and daily defect compliance.
- Recommend to the Depot Manager ways in which the company can improve profitability and operating effectiveness.
- Ensure driver training and qualifications are maintained and kept up to date.
- Drive improvements in team engagement and participation as well as boost productivity and retention levels.
