L J Transportation are seeking to appoint a reliable and skilled Class 2 HGV Recovery Driver to join our ever growing team. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent driving skills, and the ability to handle various types of vehicles. Being a customer facing role; good customer service and a high level of professionalism is essential.
The Truck can be based at one of our depots in Essex (Colchester, Brentwood, Maldon or Rochford). This will be for a mid shift 11am- 11pm or 12pm- 12am on a 5 on/3 off shift pattern.

- Operate lorries for the purpose of delivering damaged/ broken down vehicles to various locations
- Ensure the safe loading and unloading of vehicles, particularly on flatbed vehicles.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including logs of mileage and fuel usage.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients regarding delivery schedules and any potential delays.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and company policies while driving.
- Assist in the maintenance of the vehicle by reporting any issues or required repairs promptly.
- Valid commercial driving licence (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for operating flatbed lorries.
- Minimum 1 year's experience driving either a Class 2 or Class 1 vehicle
- Proven experience as a recovery driver and/or mechanical knowledge desirable but not essential
- Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and best practices.
- Ability to navigate using GPS systems and maps effectively.
- Excellent time management skills with a focus on punctuality.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Being a customer facing role, a commitment to maintaining high standards of customer service is essential.
- Due to the nature of the work; a clean UK driving licence; valid and up to date CPC card and a clean DBS record is essential for this role. Failure to comply with this requirement will result in immediate withdrawal from the recruitment process.
