Our client is a leading international main contractor specialising in the delivery of hyperscale data centres and mission-critical infrastructure across Europe. They are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team delivering a major phase of one of Europe's largest and most significant digital infrastructure programmes - a landmark £10bn hyperscale data centre campus in Blyth. Spanning more than a decade, this flagship development will redefine digital infrastructure in the UK.

Working alongside the Commercial Manager and wider project team, you will play a key role in the commercial management of the project, ensuring costs are effectively controlled while maximising value and maintaining strong contractual relationships throughout the construction lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the commercial aspects of designated work packages from procurement through to final account.
  • Prepare and administer subcontract packages, including tender enquiries, evaluations and recommendations.
  • Monitor project costs, budgets and cash flow, ensuring effective cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Prepare accurate valuations, applications for payment and commercial reports.
  • Assess and value subcontractor applications, variations and final accounts.
  • Identify, evaluate and manage commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Administer contract changes, compensation events and variations in accordance with contractual requirements.
  • Work closely with project delivery teams to monitor progress against programme and commercial objectives.
  • Support forecasting, budgeting and financial reporting to senior management.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors.
  • Ensure compliance with company commercial procedures and contractual obligations.
Requirements
  • Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.
  • Experience working on data centres, mission-critical facilities, commercial, pharmaceutical, industrial or major infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
  • Good knowledge of standard forms of contract, including NEC and JCT.
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related construction discipline.
  • Strong commercial awareness with excellent analytical and negotiation skills.
  • Experience managing subcontract procurement, valuations, variations and final accounts.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong client and subcontractor relationships.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and commercial management software.
