A reputable Main Contractor is on the lookout for an Experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their team on a full time basis. As Quantity Surveyor, you will report to the Managing Surveyor and work in partnership with the Operational Management Team. You will be working as part of a team and acting as a competent figure within the surveying structure with responsibility for supervising more junior members of the team. The Quantity Surveyor ensures accurate reporting is fundamental to the role and will have a key focus on building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring the company obtains value for money and receives the correct market value from the supply chain.
This role will be working on ACA Standard Form of Contract for Responsive Repairs and Voids, which includes Complex Repairs and when the opportunity arises of Capital Planned Works. You will be commercially managing existing supply chain and local suppliers, including being part of the on-boarding process of any new supply chain required, and using Fortem IT systems including Excel and Connect for regular data and reporting.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure the company secures its full entitlement within the parameters of the Contract and further commercial negotiations.
- Ensure the Contract achieves or exceeds budgeted targets by workstream.
- Responsible for the measurement of NHF schedule of rates and any contract Bespoke rates and acting as a subject matter expert for contractual arrangements.
- Maximise cash flow through monthly invoicing, applying appropriate procedures to resolve client queries and ensuring cash is received when due.
- Monitoring and analysis of management information and job cost against job revenue, supporting operations and finance and enablement of data driven decision making identify potential disputes in a timely manner and escalate appropriately.
- Supporting the Managing Surveyor in the preparation and timely reporting of information including Cost Value Reconciliations (CVR), Cost Value Comparison (CVC), forecasting and management accounts, providing governance of budgets through robust cost control.
The ideal candidate must have:
- Previous Quantity Surveying experience.
- QS degree or solid experience will be considered.
- Excellent IT knowledge including a high level of Excel skills (incl. V-Lookup, Pivot tables and formula development).
- Negotiating and communication skills.
- A good knowledge of relevant contract conditions.
- A high level of organisation and achieving deadlines.
- Full UK driving licence for travel to working site locations.
