An established London-based developer and in-house contracting team is seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Quantity Surveyor to support a growing pipeline of projects in London. This is a key role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced development environment, taking ownership of the commercial function across a diverse portfolio. You’ll be involved in schemes ranging from commercial-to-hotel conversions and mixed-use developments to high-end residential refurbishments, ensuring each project is delivered efficiently, profitably, and to the highest standards. This position offers strong autonomy, direct influence on project outcomes, and the chance to contribute meaningfully to the ongoing expansion of the business.
Responsibilities
- Commercial & Financial Management: Lead the full commercial cycle of projects, including cost planning, valuation, change management and final accounts, ensuring each scheme is delivered within agreed budgets and financial targets.
- Subcontract Procurement & Administration: Prepare and negotiate subcontract packages, manage tender processes, assess bids and oversee contract administration to secure best value and maintain strong supply-chain relationships.
- Cost Control, Reporting & Forecasting: Track project expenditure, update cost reports, produce accurate forecasts and highlight risks or opportunities, providing clear commercial insight to senior stakeholders.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal development, design, and delivery teams to support programme, quality and financial objectives, contributing to effective problem-solving and informed project decisions.
- Risk Management & Compliance: Identify and mitigate commercial, contractual and delivery risks; ensure compliance with company procedures, legal requirements and industry standards to protect project and business outcomes.
Requirements
- Must have degree-level qualification in Quantity Surveying or alternative relevant field
- Must have 5 years’ experience in a similar position preferably working with an in-house contractor or Developer
- Must be based within a commutable distance of London
