The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.

This role requires you to be in the Reading Office three days a week and work from home for two days a week, although you will be required to work in the office full time during training.

We’re looking for a proactive 2nd Line Security Analyst to help keep our clients’ infrastructure, applications and digital environments secure and running smoothly. You’ll deliver high-quality technical support, lead on day-to-day security incident management, and ensure we meet our SLAs across multiple managed service customers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 2nd line support via our Service Desk, resolving incidents and service requests within SLA.
  • Monitor and manage IT security systems, escalating issues where needed.
  • Lead small teams delivering security-focused work packages.
  • Produce clear documentation to meet customer and compliance standards.
  • Support hardening of IT platforms and review security-impacting changes.
  • Install, configure and troubleshoot end-user hardware, software, peripherals and networking equipment.
  • Maintain asset, configuration and knowledge-base records.
  • Support backup/recovery processes and administer user accounts, permissions and access rights.
  • Assist with ISO, Cyber Essentials and other security accreditations.
  • Review and improve security processes and procedures.
  • Stay current with emerging security technologies and act as a role model for technical best practice.

Qualifications

  • Experience in an IT technical support environment (desktop, server, application).

Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of ITIL practices.
  • 5+ years experience: Desktop, Networking, Server or application support.
  • Solid knowledge across networking, Microsoft/VMware/Cloud tech, and security tooling.
  • WAN/Lan Networking skills.
  • Experience with firewalls, patching, AV/EDR (CrowdStrike preferred).
  • Confident communication skills and the ability to prioritise under pressure.
  • Aware of how security decisions impact operations and customer outcomes.
  • Familiarity with ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials, Microsoft Defender, Azure, Fortinet, Mimecast, Sentinel or similar platforms.
  • SIEM: Microsoft Sentinel, CrowdStrike Next-Gen SIEM.
  • Ability to meet vetting requirements (BS7858).

Certifications

  • Working towards or holding at least 3 of: SC-200, CCFA, AZ-500, CEH, CISA, CompTIA Security+.

You should have previously worked in an IT Technical environment.
