Maintenance Engineer Permanent Contract 40 hours per week, Salary range £36k to £38k per annum KYN Hurlingham, 28 Daisy Lane, London SW6 3DD About KYN KYN is a brand-new care home company focused on offering an elevated approach to care: Individualised journeys built around the needs and interests of our residents in beautiful surroundings with life-enriching practices. KYN HURLINGHAM is our second home due to open in the first part of 2024. Its a 32-bedroom home offering each resident an elegant and comfortable bedroom, communal areas for dining and reclining. We have a further two care homes in development in London. We are passionate about our people; we seek out those who have a true vocation for care or hospitality. About the opportunity: As a Maintenance Engineer for KYN HURLINGHAM, you will be responsible for: To support the Hospitality Manager in creating a safe and well-presented environment whilst consistently delivering an exceptional experience for our residents and their families To be responsible for the appearance and functional upkeep of the care home, bedrooms, communal areas involving indoor and outdoor work To ensure and maintain all health and safety, compliance checks and risk assessments are carried out To respond to maintenance emergencies, minor repairs on an on-call basis To undertake all routine maintenance tasks and minor general repair work as requested by the Home Manager To be responsible for the maintenance of the garden and exteriors To check the maintenance request book for tasks to be completed To undertake weekly fire alarm tests and routine checks of fire doors, security doors and window restrictors To undertake routine checks of Wheelchairs, Reclining Chairs and Nursing Beds To take responsibility for emergency lighting checks and fire alarm tests on a regular basis To undertake a monthly visual check of the firefighting apparatus, e.g., extinguishers and hydrants and document in line with compliance To check water temperatures of sinks, showers, and baths monthly To ensure water flushing is undertaken in line with risk assessments, KYN policy and national standards To keep accurate records and electronically share them with the Home Manager weekly with support from the administration team To clean shower heads and waste traps To check water hardness and water temperatures within the boiler room and keep accurate records and electronically share them with the Home Manager weekly To keep the water softener topped up with salt To fit shelves and picture hooks in residents rooms as requested To assist staff with moving furniture as requested The purchase and collection of consumables, as well as control of maintenance stock To ensure a supply of matched paint and undertake redecoration and repair works to the interior and exterior of the building To change light bulbs and clean shades as required To ensure that the grounds and car park are free from litter To ensure external bin areas are kept clean and tidy To report to the Home Manager if a particular job falls outside the Training/Skill of the post holder To liaise with trades and contractors working in the homes. This includes site orientation and overseeing health and safety To be responsible for the health and safety of residents, visitors, and staff and to report any hazards or potential hazards to the person in charge To support the Life Enriching Activity Lead/Life Enriching Activity Co-ordinators in the implementation of a whole home approach to the provision of meaningful occupation for all residents, taking a proactive attitude towards the engagement of all residents at all times To be flexible to work in several KYN Homes, supporting other maintenance personnel and covering holiday periods To be able to be called upon during out of normal working hours To be able to carry out the physical demands of the job safely To adhere to KYNs policies and procedures About you: Experience in a similar role with a good understanding of building services including, heating, hot and cold-water distribution, ventilation, electrical distribution, plumbing, gardening, painting and decorating A professional, who understands the importance of maintaining high standards working to statutory requirements and compliance to ensure our residents enjoy a safe and comfortable environment A friendly and approachable team player with the ability to troubleshoot when necessary Have basic health and safety qualifications or working knowledge Hold a full, clear UK Driving Licence You will be a compassionate, empathetic, kind, and caring individual About our commitment to you: Competitive salary and benefits 33 days annual leave including bank holidays Complimentary meals, hot drinks, and snacks throughout your shift Bespoke company induction and on-going training programmes at all levels Access to the best-in-class equipment and technology Custom-made uniforms provided Annual bonus (discretionary and scheme rules apply) Employee assistance programme and other attractive wellbeing benefits Discount schemes Company contributory pension scheme & life insurance And much more KYN is an equal opportunities employer.
