Our first home, KYN BICKLEY, opened in February 2023.
KYN BICKLEY is an 86-bedroom home offering each resident an elegant and comfortable bedroom, communal areas for dining and reclining; and inviting outdoor terraces overlooking landscaped gardens bordered by woodland.
We have a further three care homes in development in London.
About the opportunity
As a Household Manager you will be responsible for
- Resident Care & Wellbeing
- Deliver the highest standards of person-centred care, including actively providing hands-on personal care as part of the household staffing model.
- Create, review, and maintain accurate, person-centred care plans in line with KYN standards.
- Oversee that daily care tasks are completed and documented, and that communication (including emails) is responded to within 24 hours.
- Ensure compliance with Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards through accurate documentation and high-quality care delivery.
- Support residents’ medical, physical, emotional, and social needs holistically.
- Monitor nutrition, hydration, and dietary requirements, escalating concerns to the Registered Nurse (RN).
- Review clinical charts and dashboards, ensuring all outstanding actions are completed.
- Support participation in Life Enrichment and Wellbeing activities.
- Ensure timely responses to residents’ needs (e. g., call bells), investigating and addressing any delays.
- Team Leadership & Management
- Manage household rotas, ensuring safe staffing levels aligned with resident dependency needs.
- Monitor attendance, manage absence, and oversee return-to-work processes.
- Lead recruitment activities, including advertising, interviewing, and onboarding carers.
- Provide training, supervision, and performance management for household carers.
- Conduct team meetings and effective shift handovers.
- Lead, motivate, and mentor staff, promoting a positive and accountable team culture.
- Act as an induction partner for new starters.
- Participate in clinical supervisions and professional development.
- Ensure operational systems (e. g., Loop, Palm) are set up and effectively used.
- Families & Communication
- Manage family communication, addressing concerns and complaints professionally and promptly.
- Work collaboratively with nursing teams to ensure seamless care delivery.
- Ensure completion of “Resident of the Day” tasks and delegated responsibilities.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with residents, families, and staff.
- Administration
- Balance administrative responsibilities alongside clinical duties, ensuring neither area is compromised.
- Manage email communication, ensuring timely responses and actions.
- Ensure carers complete all documentation, charts, and daily records accurately.
- Participate in care reviews and maintain up-to-date records.
- Maintain trackers for complaints, compliments, and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (Do LS).
- Conduct scheduled audits and checks.
- Maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
- Auditing & Compliance
- Lead infection control practices and ensure compliance across the household.
- Identify, report, and act on risks and hazards.
- Complete and oversee allocated audits, driving continuous improvement.
- Medication Administration
- Administer medication in line with Royal Pharmaceutical Society guidance, where required.
- Complete controlled drug checks with the Registered Nurse.
- Liaise with nursing staff on clinical issues such as falls, nutrition, and tissue viability.
- Environment & Presentation
- Ensure all areas are clean, safe, and homely, maintaining high presentation standards.
- Promote a welcoming, secure, and supportive environment for residents and visitors.
- Training & Development
- Complete all mandatory and role‑specific training.
- Apply learning to continuously improve practice and team performance.
- Additional Duties
- Undertake any reasonable duties as requested by management.
- Act as a role model, consistently demonstrating KYN values.
- Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- 95% training compliance across household carers.
- 100% completion of performance reviews within deadlines.
- 100% completion of 100‑day reviews for new starters.
- 95% audit scores. Effective rota management aligned with resident dependency at all times.
About you
- Demonstrable experience working within a Health and Social Care setting.
- Ideally hold an NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
- If applying internally, candidates must currently hold a Care Lead role or an equivalent supervisory position to be eligible.
- Minimum 6 months’ experience in a similar role, with responsibility for supervising and managing team members within a Health and Social Care setting, and the ability to work 12‑hour rotating shifts.
- Able to remain calm, patient, and professional when managing challenging situations, always applying tact and diplomacy.
- A strong team player, with the ability to build positive, professional, and trusting relationships, ensuring colleagues feel supported and valued.
- Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to anticipate potential issues and take proactive action.
- Confident in managing complaints, investigating incidents, and implementing effective resolutions in a timely manner.
- A naturally compassionate, empathetic, and caring individual, committed to delivering high‑quality, person‑centred care.
- Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to respond to changing priorities and service needs.
