As a Bank Physiotherapist, you will be responsible for:
- Delivering group exercise classes to encourage residents to stay active, reduce the risks of falls, and maintain their strength and balance.
- Contributing to regular goal planning and ensuring that information is shared/communicated as required.
- Writing accurate and professional reports to timescales for third parties in respect to musculoskeletal assessment, diagnosis, management, and expected recovery.
- Working within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high standards of care to the residents living at KYN Hurlingham.
- Collaborating with therapy colleagues in the delivery and evaluation of specialised therapy interventions for residents.
- Being an autonomous practitioner, responsible for the provision of specialised assessment, treatment, education, and interventions.
- Managing your own caseload of clients with varied and complex long-term conditions and complex needs.
- Helping the service prevent avoidable hospital admissions.
- Adhering to the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) standards.
- Being professionally and legally responsible for all aspects of your work in accordance with the HCPC standards and KYN Policies & procedures.
- Supporting senior and junior clinicians in service delivery and being actively involved in service developments with the team.
- Keeping up to date with the latest evidence-based practice underpinning the area of work.
- Utilising a wide range of assessment and treatment skills to formulate specialised programmes for residents.
- Communicating in a manner that is consistent with legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Undergoing an annual appraisal programme, in line with KYN policies and procedures, ensuring the highest possible standards of care through commitment to CPD.
- Attending mandatory training and adhering to all KYN policies and procedures.
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Applying clinical reasoning skills to the assessment, planning, and implementation of the therapy process in consultation with the resident, carer, and multi-disciplinary team.
- Monitoring and evaluating treatment plans, maintaining accurate records for all residents, and managing any identified risks appropriately.
- Managing a complex and varied caseload effectively and efficiently with regards to clinical priorities and use of time.
- Demonstrating treatment and reasoning skills required for therapy assessment and treatment, using appropriate therapeutic models, approaches, and handling techniques.
- Using evidence-based practice, alongside your own knowledge, skills, and experience, and in line with legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Gaining valid informed consent prior to the delivery of interventions, which must be documented.
- Involving the individual in all aspects of their treatment programme, respecting their dignity, wishes, and beliefs throughout all interventions.
- Utilising a range of communication skills to instruct, inform, and negotiate in order to achieve active resident participation, a cohesive approach to treatment, and successful case management.
- Communicating effectively both verbally and in writing with other disciplines, departments, and organisations.
- Taking an active part in the delivery and implementation of the clinical governance agenda for the service and the department.
- Monitoring, evaluating, and modifying treatment in order to measure progress and ensure effectiveness of intervention.
- Discussing services and treatment options with residents.
- Ensuring that residents are involved in the planning and prioritisation of their rehabilitation plans wherever possible.
- Attending case review meetings and providing physiotherapy input as required.
- Demonstrating a high level of clinical effectiveness by using evidence-based practice.
- Working as a lone practitioner with support available from senior management if required.
Managerial Responsibilities:
- Supporting the development of others and assisting in their application of knowledge and skills in practice.
- Supporting the training of qualified and unqualified staff so that tasks can be delegated appropriately.
- Supporting the supervision of junior staff and students within the service.
- Identifying and managing risks involved in work activities and processes for self, colleagues, and residents.
- Embracing change within the service as improvements are implemented.
- Assisting in monitoring the effective implementation of systems of work in the department.
- Gathering, recording, and safely storing information/data as required.
Other Duties:
- There may be opportunities to undertake other duties and responsibilities of a similar level from time to time subject to prior agreement.
Qualifications:
- BSc Physiotherapy
- HCPC Registration
- CPD relating to MSK or Older Person Rehabilitation within the last 12 months
Desirable Criteria:
- Leadership and supervision training
- MSc relating to MSK or Older Person Rehabilitation speciality
Skills and Experience (Essential Criteria):
- 2 Years minimum experience within care of the elderly
- Experience working within a MDT
