KYN HURLINGHAM is our second home which opened in 2024. It’s a 32-bedroom home offering each resident an elegant and comfortable bedroom, communal areas for dining and reclining.

As a Night Nurse Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing the clinical management of residents' conditions, enabling quality of life through effective care, service, and activity.
  • Providing leadership, clinical advice, and support to the staff within the home, the residents, their friends, relatives, and any visitors to the home.
  • Being a role model for all staff, demonstrating and leading clinical best practice, behaving in a highly professional manner at all times whilst ensuring alignment to The Code and KYN values.
  • Maintaining up-to-date clinical knowledge and skills and conveying any concerns to the Home Manager.
  • Ensuring the Home Manager is kept fully informed regarding the clinical management of the home including the residents' conditions and providing clinical advice as necessary.
  • Assessing the needs of each resident effectively at pre-admission and continually throughout their time in the home.
  • Ensuring each resident has an up-to-date and agreed care plan, involving the residents and relatives where possible.
  • Regularly auditing care plans to ensure compliance with KYN's policies and procedures.
  • Leading the team to use additional charts to monitor residents' care needs effectively when necessary.
  • Managing the home’s clinical responsibilities including infection control, medication management, tissue viability and wound care management, nutritional and dietary requirements, moving and handling management.
  • Completing the home’s clinical audits and action plans in the required timescale.
  • Building and delivering action plans around the outcomes of the audits to ensure continuous service improvement.
  • Conducting a 'show round' to prospective new residents or families.
  • Providing appropriate clinical supervision, mentoring, effective communication, and leadership to the care team.
  • Supporting registered nurses with their Revalidation.
  • Giving guidance and training to the care/nursing team and providing clinical support and direction as required.
  • Maximising staff involvement with the residents' activities both in and out of the home.
  • Assisting in the recruitment of team members with support from the Home Manager and the HR team.
  • Arranging orientation and supervising the completion of the induction programme for all new team members.
  • Ensuring appropriate staffing levels and skill mix on each shift meet the requirements of the residents.
  • Assisting in the appraisal of team members identifying and meeting the training needs of the team.
  • Taking an active part in the management of team performance.
  • Supporting the Life Enriching Activity Lead/Life Enriching Activity Co-ordinators in the implementation of a whole home approach to the provision of meaningful occupation for all residents.
  • Taking full responsibility for specific aspects of the home’s management, as agreed with Home Manager.
  • Being responsible for the health and safety of self, colleagues, residents and visitors under the health and safety regulations.
  • Reporting any hazards or potential hazards to the person in charge or taking other appropriate action.
  • Adhering to all KYN's policies and procedures.
  • Undertaking on-call requirements as agreed with the Home Manager.
  • Working in accordance with an agreed rota, to include emergency cover, weekend work and night duty as required.
  • Leading, motivating and mentoring to ensure that strong relationships are developed with our residents.
  • Delivering the highest standards of person-centred care to individuals.
  • Providing clinical guidance to the care team and being instrumental in delivering all CQC duties.
  • Creating a nurturing environment where our residents and their family members feel loved, happy, safe and secure.
  • Acting as a brand ambassador who demonstrates and leads the KYN values.

About you:

  • A Registered Nurse (RGN) with a valid and active PIN.
  • Experience working as RGN with minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role within care.
  • Current registration with NMC with no restriction on practice.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the professional standards that registered nurses must uphold by The NMC Code and other regulations and legislation within the care profession.
  • Experience in managing clinical KPI's and a proven track record acting in line with The Code.
  • Experience in dementia and palliative care training and working with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Extensive knowledge and use of clinical assessment tools, a good understanding of care planning processes and writing care plans.
  • Experience in administering and managing medication and using medical equipment.
  • Ability to lead and motivate team members and inspire professionalism.
  • Ability to resolve complaints and investigate incidents effectively and efficiently.
  • Excellent attention to detail and an ability to anticipate problems before they arise.
  • A compassionate, empathetic, kind, and caring individual.
  • Previous experience in GSF is desirable.
