KYN is a brand-new care home company focused on offering an elevated approach to care: Individualised journeys built around the needs and interests of our residents in beautiful surroundings with life-enriching practices.
KYN HURLINGHAM is our second home which opened in 2024. It’s a 32-bedroom home offering each resident an elegant and comfortable bedroom, communal areas for dining and reclining. We have a further two care homes in development in London.

As a Kitchen Porter, you will be responsible for:
- Undertaking all kitchen assistant duties to the highest possible standard.
- Ensuring high standards of cleanliness and best practices are always maintained throughout the kitchen.
- Being responsible for the operation of the plate and pot wash areas of the kitchen, ensuring all items are processed in a timely manner and to the KYN standard.
- Restocking all cleaned items as necessary in the kitchen and employee areas to support the Chefs in both food preparation and service.
- Ensuring all rules and regulations for food health, allergens and hygiene are always adhered to.
- Recognising and reporting any situation which may affect the quality of service to the residents.
- Monitoring health and safety, compliance, and procedures to ensure standards are maintained in both kitchen and dining teams.
- Maintaining a clean and tidy appearance and working in an orderly manner in line with brand standards and legal requirements.
- Reporting all accidents and incidents to the Head/Sous Chef.
- Contributing toward the induction of new kitchen team members as required.
- Storing food items and deliveries correctly and in rotation to minimise wastage using all company labelling and dating processes.
- Removing waste from the kitchen, including delivery packaging, transporting to the bin store and safely placing in the appropriate bins.
- Completing opening/closing checklists daily.
- Complying with COSHH (Control of Substance Hazardous to Health) and Infection Control regulations.
- Supporting the Chefs to always take a proactive attitude towards the engagement of all residents.
- Participating in in-house training sessions and attending meetings when required by the Head/Sous Chef and/or Home Manager.
- Utilising all the resources within the kitchen effectively.
- Ensuring the kitchen has adequate supplies of clean utensils, crockery, and other equipment.
- Complying with KYN’s uniform code whilst on duty.
- Responding in a polite and professional manner to the residents and never entering a resident’s room without knocking.
- Being aware of the responsibilities for Health & Safety for all team members, residents, and visitors, reporting any accidents or potential hazards to the person in charge.
- Adhering to all KYN’s policies and procedures.
