Reporting to the Head of Construction, the Regional Building Surveyor is responsible for managing capital and large revenue projects as directed, including dilapidation projects from inception to completion within agreed budgets and programme. The role ensures that the Company is compliant with all current statutory and regulatory requirements at all times.
The Group Property network is of strategic importance to the long-term success of the business, with several key projects including new centre openings, centre refurbishments, and reconfiguration of the warehouse network. The Building Surveyor will play a key role in ensuring individual projects are completed on time and within budget.
This is a field-based role with regional and national travel required as per the defined UK territory, so flexibility around travel and nights away from home plus a full UK Cat B drivers licence is essential to your application. The salary range displayed is based upon experience and qualifications, plus an excellent benefits package.
- Qualifications in Construction, Building Surveying, or a related field.
- Proven experience in building pathology, defect diagnosis, and building regulations.
- Working knowledge of current CDM and H&S Legislation.
- Experienced in managing building and maintenance projects, contractors, schedules of condition, and programmes of work.
- Ability to work to deadlines or time frames without compromising the quality of work and maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
- Demonstrate a good knowledge of building compliance.
- Demonstrate a good knowledge of sustainability issues within the built environment.
- Knowledge of common building services (mechanical and electrical) (Desirable).
- Have a working knowledge or a commitment to undertake training in CAD drawing packages.
- Full UK Drivers Licence - (Essential).
- MRICS or MCIOB desirable but not essential as training to this level will be provided.
