SUMMARY

The student assistant primarily engaged in research with secondary materials will assist faculty or members of the Dean’s office with various research projects.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

  • Research, editing, and typing of academic journal articles and books
  • Develop and maintain files on issues related to the current project
  • Do library and online research as required (e.g. review current literature, statistics, legal research, academic journals, surveys, online databases, etc.)
  • Assist with photocopying, typing, filing, and overall organization of these materials
  • Work on a variety of initiatives that the Faculty needs assistance with from internal marketing to students, student engagement, course programming
  • Communicate with faculty, peers, relevant internal and external partners as directed by faculty
  • Research, collate, and assist in planning relevant events and identify ways to connect students to alumni and industry as needed
  • Create tracking systems and processes to ensure systems are in place to maintain strategies into the future
  • Research, compile data and write papers to be incorporated into proposals a variety of Faculty purposes
  • Prepare summary reports including headings and information which can be subsequently used to draft briefing notes or craft power point presentations

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to follow directions with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail and quality deliverables
  • Ability to use MS Office tools, including databases for tracking or qualitative and/or quantitative studies
  • Good interpersonal, organization, research and written skills
  • A professional and positive attitude
  • Knowledge of the research area

This position is reserved for KPU Students only

Salary Information

Student Assistants are paid as per the following:

  • Less than one year of post-secondary (less than 30 credits) – BC Minimum Wage
  • One year of post-secondary (30-60 credits) – BC Minimum Wage plus 8%
  • With a post-secondary diploma or degree – BC Minimum Wage plus 21%
