FACULTY OVERVIEW: Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s Plumbing program prepares students for employment as a pipefitter, steamfitter, sprinkler installer, gasfitter or plumbing apprentice. Students will develop the necessary habits concerning safety, time and materials management, hand tools, and power tools. Practical projects are performed in a shop environment to enhance students’ skills in installation, pipe repair and maintenance, fixtures and other equipment used for water, steam, chemical and fuel distribution, in addition to wastewater disposal in residential, commercial and industrial buildings.
Position Overview
The Faculty of Trades and Technology is currently seeking a Non-regular Type 1 Plumbing Instructor to provide short-term delivery of Apprenticeship Levels 1, 2, 3, and 4 and Plumbing Foundation Level courses which may extend from a single day to several weeks, possibly leading to a regularized contract.
More information concerning the working conditions for a faculty member is outlined in Article 12 of the Kwantlen Faculty Association (KFA) Collective Agreement.
Qualifications
- BC Certificate of Qualification (CofQ) with Interprovincial Red Seal Endorsement (IP RSE), or a Certificate of Qualification with Interprovincial Red Seal (IP RSE) from another jurisdiction
- A current BC Gasfitter Class B Certificate of Qualification (CofQ) with Interprovincial Red Seal Endorsement (IP RSE) OR equivalent Gasfitter certificate from another Canadian jurisdiction
- A Cross Connection Testing Certificate from BC Water & Waste Association (BCWWA) and field experience
Application Requirements
Candidates will be required to present a demonstration lesson and undergo a practical assessment.
Candidates will be required to undergo a Criminal Record Check.
Salary Information
Placement on the salary scale will be dependent on level of education and relevant teaching experience. Advancement up the pay scale is based on FTE and employment status.
