Kwalee are looking for a Junior 2D Animator to join our Mobile Division in the Creative Marketing team to help produce high‑performing animated video adverts for our mobile games using Toon Boom, Spine, and After Effects. Working closely with Senior Animators, you will hone your technical skills, learn the mechanics of successful mobile advertising, and bring engaging 2D assets to life.
Role Purpose
As a Junior 2D Animator, your role is to assist in creating animated video ads for our mobile games using Toon Boom, Esoteric Spine, Adobe After Effects and our internal tools. You will work closely with mid to senior level Animators to support the production of performance‑driven creatives. You will be expected to use and expand your animation skills and knowledge of animation principles, develop your understanding of how advertising creatives succeed in the gaming space, and build a strong foundation in mobile ad production. You’ll also explore competitor ad trends and develop an understanding of what makes an ad perform.
Responsibilities
- Animate 2D elements for mobile game ad creatives under supervision using Toon Boom, Spine and After Effects.
- Use your animation and strong drawing skills to support the creation of animated assets (character animations, asset design, UI transitions, effects).
- Assist in asset preparation, file organisation, and exports.
- Participate in internal reviews and apply feedback constructively.
- Stay updated on basic industry trends and popular ad formats through research and shared resources.
- Begin developing an eye for what makes an ad visually engaging and effective.
- Work collaboratively with editors and designers to produce final ad outputs.
- Communicate with the creative team to understand project goals and feedback loops.
Requirements
- Proficiency in Toon Boom, Spine or equivalent 2D animation tools.
- Strong understanding of animation principles.
- Excellent 2D animation, drawing, and storytelling skills.
- Strong grasp of composition, pacing, and visual timing.
- Familiarity with some AI tools to streamline animation work.
- Good time management, communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience in mobile game marketing and performance‑based creative production is a plus.
Based in our Leamington Spa office with 5 days per week on site.
