Are you an experienced Financial Crime professional looking to make a significant impact within a regulated banking environment?

This is not a traditional Financial Crime advisory role.

We're seeking a technically minded Financial Crime specialist who can combine regulatory knowledge with strong analytical and systems expertise to improve risk management processes, enhance monitoring capabilities, and support the implementation and optimisation of Financial Crime technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Crime Technology & Systems
  • Lead the implementation, enhancement, and ongoing maintenance of Financial Crime Compliance systems.
  • Support the optimisation of transaction monitoring and risk assessment tools.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage automation, analytics, and emerging technologies, including AI, to strengthen Financial Crime controls.
  • Risk Analytics & Modelling
  • Design and execute Customer, Country, and Business-Wide Financial Crime Risk Assessments.
  • Develop and enhance quantitative and qualitative risk assessment methodologies.
  • Build risk models, scorecards, and data-driven assessment tools.
  • Analyse complex datasets to identify trends, emerging risks, and control weaknesses.
  • Monitoring & Testing
  • Assess the effectiveness of transaction monitoring systems, controls, and rule sets.
  • Conduct data mapping, gap analysis, scenario testing, and threshold calibration.
  • Develop methodologies to measure and improve monitoring effectiveness.
  • Management Information & Reporting
  • Produce insightful MI and dashboard reporting for senior management, committees, and Board audiences.
  • Deliver meaningful analysis that supports strategic decision-making and risk mitigation.
  • Support regulatory reporting and the annual MLRO reporting process.

What We're Looking For

We're interested in candidates who have

5+ years' experience in Financial Crime Compliance within a UK regulated bank (Second Line of Defence)

Strong understanding of AML, Sanctions, Fraud and Financial Crime Risk Management

Solid experience working with Financial Crime systems, data, and technology platforms including implementation and/or system enhancements in areas such as Transaction Monitoring, Name Screening and Payment Screening tools

Strong analytical skills with the ability to transform data into actionable risk insights

Experience designing risk assessment methodologies, scoring models, or control testing frameworks

  • Advanced Excel and strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Excellent report writing and stakeholder communication skills

An interest in emerging technology, data analytics, automation, and AI within Financial Crime Compliance.

Desirable Qualifications

  • ACAMS
  • ICA Certificate or Diploma
  • CISI qualification (or equivalent)
