We are involved in several nuclear projects, including FA3 EPR (France), the French fleet, Taishan EPR (China), Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C. THE ROLE

The role is an integral part of project delivery which is designed to positively contribute, influence and underpin success across Engineering, Procurement & Manufacturing, Construction & Commissioning of the project. The Cost and Forecasting discipline is aligned to the three critical success factors to successfully deliver the project objectives and underpin stakeholder confidence. You will be accountable for the Cost and Forecasting information you generate, associated with Project delivery and the management of Project progress and forecasting data. You will maintain Project data within your area of work and will be expected to identify local issues and suggest resolutions or changes.

As Lead Cost Engineer, your main responsibilities will be the following:

  • Produce and maintain accurate cost and forecast data in alignment with the Cost Breakdown Structure or Work Breakdown Structure.
  • Accurately maintain all Cost and Forecast data for your area of responsibility within the Cost and Forecast software system (e.g. EcoSys, SAP).
  • Coordinate and produce Cost and Forecasting reports to a defined reporting cycle, including commentary on key time-related drivers and performance issues.
  • Assist in the Trend & Change process, including analysis at Project level, generating performance indicators and providing feedback on areas of risk and opportunities.
  • Deliver clear and concise insights to support robust decision-making using commercial and technical information to influence decisions.
  • Provide analytical support to Senior Cost Engineers and Lead Cost Engineers through robust analysis and interpretation of technical, financial, and performance data to facilitate prioritisation and any necessary actions.
  • Effectively collaborate with colleagues within and across organisational boundaries to achieve mutually successful outcomes in keeping with the HPC project values of 'Humility, Positivity, Respect, Solidarity and Clarity' and culture of 'Trust, Transparency and Teamwork'.
  • Apply fundamental project and business project controls principles and interfaces with wider management processes.
  • Help promote and embed a culture of good governance, risk awareness and compliance across the organisation.
  • Support the education of project controls reporting functionality and provide feedback and recommendations for improvement.
  • Ensure all Project documents, in particular Sensitive Information, are correctly protectively marked, and protected in accordance with policies and procedures.

You will interface with several teams, including Project Controls, Cost and Forecasting, Project and Programme Risk Reviews, Central support functions, Project Management. REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Experience in a Project Management environment.
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a project controls discipline.
  • Understanding of project controls methodologies and techniques.
  • Ability to use the following or equivalent software tools: Microsoft Office software, Teamcenter, EcoSys, Power BI, SAP.
  • High attention to detail, ensuring accuracy of outputs and validity of quality data.
  • Analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Effectively communicates complex issues and concepts (unique insights) in simple ways, to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Focused on objectives, delivering expectations and standards (time, quality, budget and safety).
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • High standard of interpersonal skills.
  • Collaboration with colleagues within and across organisational boundaries to achieve mutually successful outcomes, teamwork.
