THE ROLE

As Construction Planner Engineer, you will be responsible for the on-site planning of installation activities and associated data, this will include the governance, management and updating construction schedules. You will be in charge of the following activities:

  • The development, integrations, design, testing & commissioning of detailed construction schedules.
  • Considering all aspects of integrated mechanical, electrical and HVAC planning for works on the project.
  • Conducting integrated schedule reviews to develop detailed, optimised construction delivery sequences and resource loaded schedules.
  • Integration of construction works activities with all programmes within the schedules to optimise the planning process.
  • Addressing interfaces at the detailed construction schedules, supporting the overall project integrated works schedule and the 16-week look ahead process to unconstrain work and deliver schedule adherence.
  • The management and update of the schedule data within the planning and production control toolsets.
  • Support for the performance optimisation / influence of the 4D capability on the performance of Safety, Quality, Cost, Time & Risk across the life-cycle delivery.
  • Ensuring that the Programme construction schedules are produced, managed, and maintained in accordance with the planning procedures and contract requirements.
  • Reporting of site progress using various methods, and ensuring the construction are informed of relevant schedule data.

You will ensure the following deliverables:

  • Advocating safe and effective planning of works for site construction.
  • Ensuring that conventional and nuclear safety considerations are recognised as essential to the success of the project and built into the planning processes.
  • Developing detailed plans to a facility and/or area basis which integrate, co-ordinate and sequence work activities to achieve the optimum construction sequence paying particular attention to contractor interfaces at site within the 16-week horizon.
  • Communicate schedule resource requirements, durations, and associated quantity information to the construction leads.
  • Support the project periodic look ahead process with the rolling extract of an integrated schedule.
  • Identifying planning scope, major constraints, and contract requirements.
  • Identifying quantities and factors affecting the programme.
  • Establishing and agreeing with Delivery construction outputs.
  • Develop resource, material, and quantities profiles from the level 5 schedule to support delivery readiness, particularly bulk material and equipment delivery needs.
  • Develop schedule metrics and reporting to allow measurement of schedule adherence and planned/actual schedule performance.
  • Work with the 4D team to develop animated schedule sequences and enhance the 4D tools and capability on the project, particularly for construction coordination purposes.
  • Work with the construction teams and the PDO to develop visual management capabilities for deployment in the field by the construction and contract partner teams.
  • Encouraging the development of lessons learned to support future project execution.

You will be interfacing with several teams: Joint Venture, Programme, Management, Logistics/Expeditors, Transverse Equipment.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Industrial experience.
  • Experience in delivering highly complex projects in regulated environments.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of programme progress and forecast position and planning.
  • An understanding of various methods of planning, programming and progress monitoring.
  • An understanding of the construction market, methods of construction, plant, equipment and labour requirements.
  • A basic understanding of estimating principles.
  • Strong communication skills: calm and determined, able to create a climate of trust and influence on both internal and external stakeholders, able to build effective relationships.
  • Organisation skills, ability to effectively manage own and team’s workload in order to respect deadlines and KPI requirements.
  • Interpersonal and collaboration skills, teamwork.
  • Proactive approach, strong focus on performance and autonomy, results oriented.
  • Lateral thinking and problem-solving skills.

DESIRABLE SKILLS

  • 4D and 5D planning experience.
  • Nuclear construction background.
  • Demonstrable level of experience in construction trade/management based on previous project assignments.
  • French-speaking would be an advantage.
