We are looking for a Traffic Management CAD Designer to join our team supporting the Midland Metro Alliance project across Birmingham and Dudley, B19 3SD. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering traffic management solutions for the construction of major tramway extensions that will shape the future of transport across the region. Working closely with traffic management, construction and client teams, you will be responsible for producing high-quality traffic management designs and amendments using AutoCAD and Cone software. Based in our Birmingham office, you will ensure designs are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with industry standards, supporting the successful delivery of complex infrastructure projects in busy urban environments.

Main Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with operational teams, clients and local authorities to develop and maintain effective traffic management solutions.
  • Produce new traffic management designs and update existing layouts to reflect changing site requirements.
  • Carry out design risk assessments and maintain accurate records of all design requests and amendments.
  • Attend site visits and planning meetings to understand upcoming works, provide technical support and explain proposed traffic management arrangements to clients and stakeholders.
  • Track and capture any changes to ensure designs remain accurate and compliant.
  • Champion health and safety and contribute to the successful delivery of the Midland Metro Alliance programme.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be a motivated and organised individual with experience in the temporary traffic management industry and a strong understanding of NHSS Sector Scheme 12D requirements. You will have proven experience using AutoCAD and Cone software to produce traffic management designs and be confident working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change quickly. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling them to build effective relationships with colleagues, clients and local authorities. You will be comfortable working both independently and as part of a small team, with the ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience designing temporary traffic management schemes
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and Cone software
  • NHSS Sector Scheme 12D knowledge and experience
  • Good understanding of traffic management operations and construction environments
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Strong IT, organisational and record-keeping skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • A proactive approach and willingness to learn and develop professionally

Desirable qualifications such as NHSS 12D Lantra, M1/M2 or other relevant traffic management certifications would be advantageous.

Package Description
