Overview
In this Transport Operator role, you will act as a central control point to monitor and coordinate road freight from Europe into the UK for a major automotive customer. You will work within the Control Tower to track shipments, resolve disruptions, and ensure on-time in full deliveries while maintaining compliant operations. The role supports cross-border movements and close collaboration with carriers, drivers, and customs teams. You will help maintain real-time status updates and contribute to excellent customer service and OTIF performance. This is a hands-on, fast-paced position with meaningful impact on supply chains and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Monitor road freight shipments from Europe to the UK
- Track movements using transport management systems
- Identify and resolve potential service disruptions
- Coordinate import/export movements across UK and EU
- Collaborate with carriers, drivers, planners, and customs
- Escalate critical issues and support recovery plans
- Maintain real-time transport status updates and records
- Deliver excellent customer service and OTIF performance
Key requirements
- Experience in road transport, logistics, or freight forwarding
- Understanding of European and UK transport networks and geography
- Basic customs knowledge or willingness to develop it
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management
- Ability to respond quickly to changing situations
- Good IT literacy and comfort with operational systems
