The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.
This role provides leadership for the activities of Portsmouth transport, and other designated sites as directed. It will ensure legal, Security & Health Safety compliance at all times, to meet any JSP/Civil authority regulations. Achieve the agreed service level and KPIs, whilst maintaining budgetary and manpower targets. Manage the operations through effective day-to-day management and engagement of transport colleagues within Road distribution Portsmouth. Ensure that safety, compliance, service, and cost are competently controlled.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Directly manage a team of supervisors & driver colleagues and report directly to your Line Manager.
- Effectively cascade company and site information by engaging on site and remote driver colleagues, ensuring that within the team they feel valued and engaged.
- Effectively manage Fleet compliance and operations in line with company policy and your obligations as the named O' licence holder, through inspection, ensuring vehicle cleanliness is maintained externally and that internal hygiene is maintained.
- Complete all safety training requirements for the role. Proactively champion a culture of health & safety, colleague wellbeing, care, and an environmentally friendly workplace.
- Work with your team of supervisors to ensure they and all colleagues in the team have received relevant training and all safety equipment is fit for purpose.
- Conduct colleague safety observations and hazard reporting. Promptly respond to any safety concerns, unsafe acts and near miss reports raised by employees.
- Ensure all colleagues are provided and use the appropriate PPE as per the intended use. Conduct and record three monthly checks on condition and standard of PPE. Arrange for replacement PPE when condition is below the acceptable standard.
- Conduct on and off-site assurance checks, safety observations, communicate safety Toolbox Briefs (TBB) and provide positive feedback to driver colleagues, to improve the safety culture.
- Effectively manage the reporting of all accidents/incidents using QSHE Business Tool (QBT), complete thorough investigations and complete all associated actions in a timely manner.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES
- Demonstrate leadership, motivational and strong interpersonal skills.
- Experience of managing a transport operation with specific reference to the movement of Class 1 to 9.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Good customer service attitude and approach.
- Results orientated, willing to take ownership for setting and achieving high standards and targets.
- Preferable to hold a Manager CPC National Road Haulage Certificate.
- Knowledge of quality, health, safety and environment (QSHE) requirements.
- Up to date knowledge of transport legislation.
- Flexible and prepared to work a rotating or fixed shift pattern in accordance with the needs of the business.
- There are strict security vetting standards that must be met and maintained within this role. The Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) is the minimum level of security clearance for all employees; drivers are required to obtain full Security Clearance (SC).
