As a Customs Specialist at Kuehne+Nagel, your role is to optimise logistics to keep our global supply chains running smoothly. The impact of your work extends beyond routine tasks; your expertise ensures that important moments, such as a global product launch or the delivery of ethically sourced beauty and bath products to local stores, happen on time. This is import and export work, but it is so much more than we imagine.

Kuehne+Nagel is looking to strengthen its Customs team by hiring an Internal Customs Specialist. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting customs operations through accurate administration, regulatory compliance, and close collaboration with both internal teams and external customers. Reporting to the Customs Manager – Air & Sea Exports, you will contribute to the smooth and compliant movement of goods across borders.

How you create impact

  • Prepare and present export customs documentation within dedicated customs software
  • Handle standard and complex customs declarations, including transit (T1) documents, warehousing, excise goods, and licensable products
  • Ensure customs compliance and support the maintenance of AEO standards
  • Identify, report, and resolve declaration errors with a focus on root cause and corrective actions
  • Maintain accurate, compliant records and manage the control and distribution of customs documentation
  • Communicate proactively with operational teams and customers, resolving enquiries and escalations in a timely and professional manner

  • Sound knowledge of export customs requirements, regulations, and T1 transit procedures (Experience in customs operations and knowledge of CargoWise or similar systems is an advantage)
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and a customer-focused mindset
  • Confidence in working independently while contributing effectively in a team environment
  • Strong PC literacy, particularly in MS Word and Excel
  • Ability to interpret information, prioritize tasks effectively, and take accountability for results
