The predicted salary is between 40000 - 50000 Β£ per year.

Play a pivotal role within our Road Distribution operation at Beith, with responsibility for overseeing transport activities across the site and any additional locations as required. Leading from the front, ensuring that all operations are delivered safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with legal, security, and Health Safety standards, as well as JSP and Civil Authority regulations. You will be accountable for achieving agreed service levels and KPIs while maintaining strict control over budgets and manpower resources.

Central to this role is the ability to drive performance through effective day-to-day management, fostering strong engagement and collaboration across transport teams. By creating a positive and high-performing working environment, you will ensure that safety, compliance, service quality, and cost efficiency are consistently balanced and optimised. You will also play a key role in embedding best practice and ensuring all Kuehne Nagel procedures are adhered to at all times. This is a role for a proactive and motivated leader who can inspire teams, maintain operational excellence, and deliver results in a fast-paced and compliance-driven environment.

How you create impact

  • Responsible for taking reasonable care of the Health and Safety of myself and others who may be affected by my acts or omissions at work to observe best practice and compliance with legislation in the protection of the environment and conservation of energy.
  • Effectively manage fleet and operational compliance in line with company policy and your obligations as the named O Licence Holder.
  • Through inspection, ensure vehicle cleanliness is maintained externally, and that internal hygiene is maintained.
  • Conduct colleague safety observations and hazard reporting.
  • Promptly respond to any safety concerns, unsafe acts and near miss reports raised by employees.
  • Submitting and raising Near Miss, Safety Concerns and Unsafe acts observed while carrying out your daily duties is every colleague's responsibility.
  • Conduct on and off-site Assurance Checks, Safety Observations, communicate safety Toolbox Briefs (TBB) and provide positive feedback to driver colleagues, to improve the safety culture.
  • Ensure compliance with and carry out audits on T S and overtime.
  • Preparation of accurate financial and budgetary forecasts.
  • Ensure Secure routes remain compliant maintain contact with the Secure Transport Visibility Cell (STVC) providing routing support, vehicle, and driver availability information, as required.
  • Monitor and ensure all colleague training, especially KN mandated training requirements are achieved in line with requirements.
  • Ensure all training records are completed, maintained and Learning Development (L D) notified.
  • Drive compliance and analyse driver performance within the Microlise route, POD, and telematics, carrying out driver Dispatch / debrief duties and complete scheduled reporting data and briefings.
  • Ensure all areas in your control remain compliant with EU and UK Transport legislation, the management of drivers Road Transport Working Time Regulations 2005 and EU Drivers hours to ensure drivers take all their appropriate breaks.
  • Conduct regular quality paperwork checks on Drivers, Pre/Post Use Checks, DG Notes, VORs, Fuel Cards, Toll Cards and tasking sheets are conducted.
  • Plan regular checks to ensure it becomes a known requirement.
  • Monitor Manage colleague holiday, absence notifications, self-certification and return to work, enter onto the Absence Community portal.
  • Conduct Welcome back Discussions in accordance with the Policy Rules Guidance with individuals on return from any sick absence.

What we would like you to bring

  • Preferable to hold a Valid ADR Training Certificate - Categories 1-9 excluding 7 but with 7x accepted packages.
  • Essential to hold a Manager CPC International Road Haulage Certificate in order to carry out the job for which you are employed as the Operating Licence Holder.
  • Knowledge of quality, health, safety and environment (QSHE) requirements.
  • Experience within an operations environment that demonstrates the capability to build, lead, manage and motivate a team.
  • Demonstrate leadership, motivational and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Up to date knowledge of transport legislation.
