Step into a role where safety meets strategy! We\’re offering an exciting opportunity for a Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor (DGSA) to join our team at our Donnington site. In this pivotal position, you\’ll play a vital role in championing compliance with legislation, regulatory policy, and contractual standards surrounding dangerous goods. Your Role

As a key member of our team, the Dangerous Goods Safety (DGSA) will be responsible for ensuring and assuring compliance with legislation, regulation, policy, and contractual requirements. Additionally, you will act as the business unit Radiation Safety Officer (RSO), ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, regulation, policy, and contractual standards. This is a key role across the business, providing specialist advice to Management and Operations on compliance with legislation and policies affecting the storage and transport of hazardous substances, articles, and radiological protection.

Your Responsibilities

  • Act as the branch\’s Office and Warehouse Dangerous Goods Supervisor for the contract.
  • Monitor and provide assurance that Dangerous Goods/Radiation processes and legislation are adhered to through audit and inspection programs.
  • Support operational teams to improve standards related to Dangerous Goods and Radiation regulations and achieve compliance targets.
  • Report Dangerous Goods performance against BU targets to QSHE Senior Management.
  • Maintain statutory procedures for compliance with regulations governing the carriage of dangerous goods by road, rail, sea, and air, including hazardous goods identification and documentation checks.
  • Implement and monitor procedures to ensure compliance with radiological protection and reporting requirements.
  • Liaise with customers’ auditors, ensuring corrective actions are executed and specifications are met.
  • Provide quarterly Radioactive Source List as required by MOD Radiological Regulator.
  • Ensure limits of REPPIR 2019 are not exceeded and submit annual reports to MOD Radiological Regulator.
  • Ensure Operational Radiation Protection Supervisors (RPS) are appointed and trained.
  • Monitor dosimetry processes and review results.
  • Ensure calibration and repair of radiation monitoring equipment.
  • Maintain understanding of authority processes from JSP392 Management of Radiation Protection in Defence.
  • Review and update local processes and procedures regularly.
  • Deliver Dangerous Goods training.

Your Skills and Experiences

  • SQA Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor (DGSA) qualification required.
  • Radiation Safety qualification or awareness for training purposes.
  • IOSH Managing Safety certification required.
  • NEBOSH NGC qualification desirable.
  • Audit experience advantageous.
  • Awareness of Quality Standards preferred.
  • Experience in aviation, MOD, automotive, or similar industries beneficial.
