The role
This is a senior, hands-on leadership role within our AI/ML Engineering Practice. As an Associate Director, you’ll be the technical authority behind the design and delivery of cutting-edge AI/ML systems, leading from the front and setting the standard for excellence. You’ll specialise in the Databricks Lakehouse Platform, shaping how we architect, build, and scale AI solutions for our clients. You won’t just deliver projects, you’ll influence strategy, drive innovation, and help position Kubrick as a thought leader in one of the fastest-moving areas in tech. This is a client-facing, billable role, where most of your time will be spent delivering real impact on high-value projects.
What you’ll be doing
- Own the end-to-end design and delivery of AI/ML systems on Databricks
- Act as technical lead across architecture, development, and deployment
- Define and embed best practices (Delta Live Tables, MLflow, Feature Store, Workflows)
- Ensure high-quality outputs across teams and projects
- Present insights and progress to senior stakeholders
- Shape solutions & win work
- Translate complex technical ideas into clear, actionable insights
- Support pre-sales, proposals, and client workshops
- Design scalable, Databricks-aligned solution architectures
- Build credibility with clients and technology partners
- Stay at the forefront of GenAI, LLMs, and agent-based systems (LangChain, LangGraph)
- Experiment with and adopt new Databricks capabilities (Mosaic AI, Vector Search, Model Serving)
- Contribute to internal IP, accelerators, and reusable assets
- Coach and mentor consultants across the business
- Help shape training programmes for early-career talent
- Champion a culture of technical excellence, curiosity, and responsible AI
What we’re looking for
- Strong track record of delivering high-quality AI/ML projects
- Experience leading technical teams, ideally in a consultancy environment
- Technical expertise
- Deep understanding of machine learning and AI systems in production
- Hands-on experience with Databricks Lakehouse Platform
- Expertise in Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and MLflow
- Experience building data or ML pipelines (Workflows, Repos, Delta Live Tables)
- Strong interest in GenAI / LLMs
Nice to have:
- Knowledge of modern development practices
- Exposure to advanced AI techniques (RL, planning algorithms, agent systems)
Communication & influence
- Ability to explain complex ideas to non-technical audiences
- Comfortable engaging and influencing senior stakeholders
- Experience supporting pre-sales or client growth activities
- STEM degree or equivalent experience
- Databricks certifications (ML Engineer, Lakehouse Fundamentals)
