Tools for Humanity (TFH) designs and builds technology behind World. World is building a real human network designed to accelerate people in the age of AI. As bots and autonomous agents reshape the internet, people, institutions, and applications need a trusted way to confirm who is a real human while preserving privacy. The TFH and World tech stacks make this possible: the Orb verifies real, unique people, World ID proves it privately, and World App puts these capabilities, and more, in people’s hands. Together, they add a human layer to an AI-driven internet.
World is already running at a global scale. More than 17 million people across 160 countries have verified with World ID, and more new Orb verifications take place each week. World App is already among the most used wallets globally. Developers are integrating World ID to build safer online experiences and create spaces where real people can participate, earn, and be recognized in ways AI simply can’t replicate.
Founded in 2019, TFH has more than 400 people across hardware, software, AI, cryptography, mobile engineering, and global operations. Our teams come from OpenAI, Tesla, SpaceX, Apple, Google, Stripe, Meta, Coinbase, Palantir and MIT Media Lab. We’re backed by leading investors, including a16z, Khosla Ventures, Bain Capital Crypto, Blockchain Capital, Variant, Tiger Global, and Coinbase Ventures, as well as prominent operators and founders across fintech and AI.
TFH and World have been featured on the cover of TIME Magazine, highlighted in Fast Company’s Next 5 in Fintech, and explored in a Bloomberg deep dive. The New York Times, Bankless and TechCrunch have all recognized our collective progress in identity, cryptography, AI, and global-scale hardware deployment. Our leadership is also named to the Time AI 100.
About the Team:
The Market Operations team is responsible for driving the successful launch, growth, and ongoing performance of World’s operations in markets around the world. Our work sits at the intersection of strategy and execution, ensuring that World’s unique model of verifying humanness through a global network of Orb Operators is implemented effectively, sustainably, and at scale. We collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to design and optimize operational processes, manage local partnerships, and deliver exceptional user and Operator experiences. Because every market has its own cultural, regulatory, and logistical nuances, the Market Operations team must combine analytical rigor with adaptability and deep local insight. We are known for our operational excellence, on-the-ground problem solving, and relentless focus on execution and impact.
About the Opportunity:
As our Operations Lead in Birmingham, you’ll play a key role in ensuring World’s operations run reliably and efficiently on the ground in one of our important UK markets. You’ll be responsible for the day-to-day performance of Orb locations, supporting Operators, and ensuring every site is fully operational, compliant, and delivering a high-quality user experience. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role. You will work closely with Market Operations, Logistics, and Central Operations to ensure smooth installations, fast issue resolution, and consistent operational standards across all locations. You’ll act as the bridge between on-the-ground execution and central teams — ensuring sites are launch-ready, Operators are well-supported, and operational issues are quickly identified and resolved. Your work will directly impact uptime, reliability, and the overall quality of World’s presence in the market.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the day-to-day operational performance of Orb locations in Birmingham, ensuring strong execution, compliance, and a high-quality user experience.
- Support site launches and expansion by coordinating installations, ensuring launch readiness, and ramping locations to stable operation.
- Onboard, train, and support a network of Operators and site staff, driving accountability and consistent operational standards.
- Collaborate with Logistics and Central Operations to ensure timely delivery, installation, maintenance, and issue resolution.
- Drive performance across all locations, improving key metrics such as uptime, site readiness, and Operator effectiveness.
- Establish and continuously improve installation, maintenance, and operational processes to increase reliability and scalability.
- Use data and field insights to monitor performance, identify issues, and prioritise improvements.
- Identify operational risks (e.g. downtime, setup issues, compliance gaps) and proactively implement solutions.
- Deliver in-person and remote Operator training to ensure consistent execution and reduce dependency on reactive support.
- Act as the on-the-ground point of coordination between central teams and local execution, ensuring priorities are delivered reliably.
About You:
- 3–6 years of experience in operations, field operations, installations, or site-based environments, ideally in technology, logistics, micro-mobility, or other fast-paced industries.
- Proven experience working across multiple locations or sites, ensuring consistent execution and performance.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with Operators, store staff, and external partners.
- Comfortable in hands-on, on-the-ground environments, solving problems and troubleshooting issues in real time.
- Detail-oriented and reliable, with a strong focus on operational quality, safety, and compliance.
- Resourceful and adaptable, able to operate independently in fast-moving and ambiguous environments.
- Based in or near Birmingham with willingness to travel frequently across the region.
