Burnbrae is a 28 bedded residential care home supporting older adults who have a range of differing needs such as a mental health diagnosis, Dementia and/or frailty. Our service is part of the Falkirk Health and Social Care Partnership where we work closely with other professionals within a multidisciplinary team. Burnbrae is a well-established care home with a highly experienced, motivated, and passionate team of staff. We endeavour to work together to ensure we provide a warm and welcoming environment focused on person-centred care for all who live within Burnbrae alongside a supportive place of work for our colleagues. We are located near the centre of Falkirk within beautiful surroundings and with multiple accessible public transport options nearby.
Within our service, there are multiple learning opportunities for staff. We place importance on training, development, and opportunities to progress within a supportive environment. Casual Cooks are on an as and when required basis filling vacant shifts. Casual work can be beneficial if you do not wish to commit to a formal working pattern. Although your “host home” would be Burnbrae, you would have the opportunity to undertake shifts within other Falkirk Council Care Homes.
As a cook, you will be motivated and enthusiastic. You must have an Intermediate food hygiene certificate and/or relevant catering qualification and a passion for creating nutritious meals for older individuals living in a care home. Knowledge of Cook Safe procedures and of special dietary needs for older individuals is essential. A positive attitude, flexible approach, and ability to work unsupervised as well as in a team is essential. You should be passionate, organised, and flexible. A willingness to learn is also critical.
You will work alongside an established staff team, including other Cooks, senior cooks and domestics and will be supported in the role by your colleagues. As you will be working within the care home, you will also be required to always treat others with dignity and respect.
