Job Summary
Undertaking street lighting repairs, servicing, inspections, and new installations, including testing and certification.
Assisting in the delivery of all capital and revenue projects to manage and maintain the transport network\’s street lighting assets in a safe and operational condition.
The post will be based within the Roads Network Operations Team at Broomhill Depot, Kirkintilloch.
The Council’s Roads Neighbourhood Services seeks to recruit a Street Lighting Electrician to perform maintenance, inspections, testing, and new project installations/upgrades to LED lighting. Duties include assisting technicians and the Senior Technician in providing professional services to the Council and stakeholders, ensuring value for money.
The postholder will be allocated work by technicians or the Senior Technician and may supervise an apprentice.
Tasks include conducting surveys/audits, maintaining statutory records, installing new lighting projects per specifications, and completing associated documentation, including sign-off certification.
The successful candidate will be highly motivated, determined to succeed, and customer-focused. They should be capable of working independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
East Dunbartonshire Council operates an out-of-hours emergency standby rota to ensure street lighting network safety. The candidate is expected to participate and will receive allowances and payments during duty and for overtime, such as installing Christmas decorations.
