Job Scope

The Quantity Surveyor will work with the Operations Team to ensure all project costs are effectively managed. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years experience as a QS and will come from a Telecommunications background.

Needs to Have

  • Qualification in Quantity Surveying
  • The ideal candidate will demonstrate a successful career history with a minimum of 4 years
  • experience in the Building or Civil Engineering sectors.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must be commercially aware
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines

Needs to Do

  • To analyse sub-contractor / vendor quotations and checking inclusions and exclusions.
  • Ensures all working documents/pricing calculators and data are maintained.
  • Provides complete conceptual bid work, and final estimating input on complex
  • projects.
  • Provides technical support to personnel preparing discipline estimates for assigned
  • bids.
  • Ensures all working documents and data are maintained to back-up estimate figures.
  • Supervises and coordinates estimate support staff on larger projects.
  • Advises Department Manager as to cost and schedule fluctuations, improved material,
  • or other factors affecting construction.
  • Explores Value Engineering for all applicable projects or situations.
  • Reviews market labour and equipment rates, and advise accordingly.
  • May assist Departmental Manager in the coordination of overall corporate estimating
  • functions, including systems development and staff training.
  • Develop and maintain costs database ensuring best market value.

  • Able to operate in a dynamic and fast paced organization
  • Proficient people manager and able to manage team to optimum performance
