The Role

As a CNC Operator, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of CNC machinery to manufacture high-precision components for demanding engineering applications. Working within a specialist machining environment, you will contribute to the production of quality components while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy, safety, and workmanship. Operators are expected to continuously develop their technical capabilities, with progression opportunities available through the competency levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC machines safely and efficiently.
  • Produce components to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Conduct in-process inspections and quality checks.
  • Ensure components meet dimensional and quality requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and organised working area.
  • Report machining issues, equipment faults, and non-conformances.
  • Work collaboratively with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams.
  • Follow company procedures, quality standards, and health and safety requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives.

Competency Levels

Level 2 CNC Operator
  • Able to independently complete standard machining operations.
  • Capable of running more complex components with support from Engineering.
  • Competent in machine setup and operation across designated equipment.
  • Actively developing technical skills towards Level 1 competency.
Level 3 CNC Operator
  • Operates CNC machines under supervision.
  • Learns machine setup, tooling, and production processes.
  • Supports production activities while developing machining knowledge and experience.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to training and progression within the role.

Any experience with the following would be highly preferable:

  • CNC Lathe / Turning Operator (Horizontal Lathe)
  • Vertical Lathe Operator (VTL)
  • Horizontal Borer Operator
  • CNC Machining Centre Operator
