Role: HR Advisor
Contract: Part-Time 30 hours pw (0.8 FTE)
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 1.0 FTE per annum, (£32 - £36k 0.8 FTE Pro rata)
Benefits: Include flexible working with 1-2 days per week in the office, and 33 days annual leave per annum + UK Bank Holidays.
Hours: 30 hours per week, (4 full days, or 5 shorter days per week). Friday working is essential to ensure HR support coverage across the organisation.
Contract: 9-months fixed-term contract
Base: KSS AHSNs (trading as Health Innovation KSS) primary place of business is The Beehive, located in Gatwick/Crawley, West Sussex.
Location: Health Innovation KSS work on a hybrid basis. The successful candidate is expected to be based in, or be able to attend meetings in the Kent, Surrey, Sussex geography.
Reports to: HR Manager
This is a new role within our growing HR Team. The HR Advisor will play a key role in supporting the delivery of a professional, proactive and high-quality HR service across Health Innovation KSS.
Role Responsibilities:
- Employee Relations: Independently manage employee relations cases from initial consultation through to conclusion. Advise managers on the application of employment legislation, organisational policies and HR best practice. Manage and support cases including disciplinary investigations and hearings, grievances, capability processes, performance management, maternity, paternity, adoption and parental leave matters, sickness absence management, health and wellbeing support. Prepare investigation documentation, outcome letters and management recommendations. Support managers in achieving appropriate, fair and timely resolutions.
- Manager Coaching & People Support: Proactively coach and support managers on employee relations, people management and organisational policies. Increase manager confidence and capability through regular guidance and training. Act as a trusted advisor to managers across all departments.
- Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI): Support the promotion of an inclusive, equitable and respectful workplace culture across the organisation. Provide advice and guidance to managers on equality, diversity and inclusion considerations within people management practices and employment processes. Monitor workforce data and employee feedback to identify opportunities for improving diversity, inclusion and employee experience. Contribute to EDI-related initiatives, awareness activities, training programmes and organisational improvement plans.
- Health & Wellbeing: Act as a key point of contact for employees and managers on workplace wellbeing matters, providing guidance, support and signposting where appropriate. Support managers in addressing wellbeing concerns, including stress, mental health, absence-related wellbeing issues and workplace adjustments. Support the delivery and promotion of organisational wellbeing initiatives, campaigns and awareness activities. Promote a positive culture in which employee wellbeing, psychological safety and early intervention are encouraged. Lead the development, coordination and ongoing success of the organisation's Employee Resource Groups (ERGs).
- HR Operations Oversight: Provide day-to-day oversight and quality assurance of HR operational activities delivered by the HR Assistant. Monitor compliance with HR processes and identify areas of risk or inconsistency. Conduct periodic audits of employee records, contracts, documentation and HR systems. Ensure HR records are accurate, compliant and maintained to a high standard. Support the HR Manager with governance, compliance and audit activities. Promote continuous improvement within HR operational processes.
- Recruitment: Oversee the quality, consistency and compliance of recruitment activities undertaken within the organisation. Support and guide hiring managers throughout recruitment processes. Provide support and oversight to the HR Assistant regarding recruitment administration activities. Monitor recruitment outcomes and identify opportunities for improvement. Support recruitment activity for senior or more complex vacancies where required.
- Payroll: Provide oversight of payroll-related HR processes, ensuring employee data changes are accurately captured and communicated in a timely manner. Support the HR Assistant in maintaining accurate payroll records. Review and validate payroll-related HR information prior to escalation to the HR Manager for final approval. Act as a liaison point between HR and Finance regarding payroll related queries. Escalate any potential risks, discrepancies or concerns to the HR Manager in a timely manner.
- Data, Reporting & Insights: Produce meaningful HR reports and workforce information for review by the HR Manager. Analyse workforce trends and identify emerging issues, risks and opportunities. Develop and maintain HR dashboards and people metrics. Provide insight to support discussion and decision-making by the HR Manager and Executive Management Group. Monitor key workforce indicators including turnover, absence, recruitment and employee relations trends.
- Learning, Development & Engagement: Support design, co-design and facilitate internal HR training sessions, workshops and Lunch & Learn events. Deliver training and awareness sessions on HR policies, wellbeing initiatives and people management topics. Share knowledge and good practice across the organisation. Support the ongoing development of management capability.
- HR Projects & Continuous Improvement: Lead medium-scale HR projects and improvement initiatives. Support organisational change and transformation activities as directed by the HR Manager. Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, employee experience and service delivery. Explore opportunities to utilise technology, automation and AI within HR processes.

Person Specification:
- Education, Qualifications & Training: Essential: Educated to degree level or equivalent professional experience. Desirable: CIPD Level 5 qualified or working towards qualification. Equivalent demonstrable HR experience will be considered in place of formal qualifications.
- Experience: Essential: Significant experience working within a broad HR generalist role. Experience supporting payroll processing. Demonstrable experience managing employee relations cases independently and confidently. Experience coaching and advising line managers. Experience producing HR reports and analysing workforce data. Experience working in a fast-paced and evolving environment. Experience facilitating training sessions, workshops or presentations. Ensure compliance with GDPR, Data Protection legislation, Information Governance requirements and organisational policies. Desirable: Experience working within healthcare, NHS or health-related organisations. Experience supporting organisational change programmes. Experience deputising for a senior HR professional. Experience using Sage HR & Teamtailor. Experience of implementing or exploring AI solutions within HR or People functions.
- Skills & Abilities: Essential: Excellent attention to detail & organisational skills. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities at once and adapt to quick changing deadlines.
