We are a property investment company based in Cardiff with a mixed portfolio seeking a qualified and experienced solicitor to support us on a freelance/consultancy basis. The successful candidate will take on a range of legal and property matters, managing them independently and providing practical, timely advice to help us progress matters efficiently and accurately.
Strong preference for local solicitors, but for the right candidate we are open to anyone based in Wales and the South West.
This freelance/consultancy Solicitor role involves handling legal and property-related matters promptly and accurately, drafting and reviewing legal documents, advising on a range of issues, and helping the team bring outstanding matters up to date. The role requires effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, as well as the ability to manage a varied caseload with minimal supervision.
This opportunity would suit someone with strong experience in property-related legal work and/or dispute resolution who is looking for flexible work and has the capacity to take on tasks as required.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Drafting, reviewing and advising on commercial and residential leases, licences and related property documents
- Advising on insurance-related legal matters, including claims issues and correspondence with insurers or legal expenses providers
- Supporting dispute resolution and breach of contract matters involving property, contractors, service providers or other third parties
- Advising on and assisting with residential and commercial tenancy matters, including possession, arrears recovery and enforcement action
- Assisting with guarantor, indemnity and debt recovery matters
- Supporting the enforcement of judgments, court orders and settlement obligations where required
- Advising on claims relating to contractor performance, delay, defective works and associated losses
- Preparing and reviewing legal correspondence, notices and other documentation connected with property and commercial matters
- Helping to progress ongoing files, resolve outstanding issues and bring legal matters up to date
- Liaising with agents, insurers, contractors, external advisers and other stakeholders as required
Requirements:
- Qualified solicitor with current practising status in England and Wales
- Strong experience in property law and/or litigation, ideally with exposure to both commercial and residential matters
- Proven ability to manage a varied caseload independently
- Strong drafting, reviewing and advisory skills
- Previous experience with leases, tenancy matters, contract disputes, enforcement and related legal work
- Highly organised, proactive, responsive and able to work with minimal supervision
- Experience working with a mixed property portfolio is highly desirable
- Strong analytical and research skills to ensure accuracy, compliance and practical problem-solving
- Comfortable working independently on a flexible consultancy basis with the ability to meet agreed deadlines
