Job Purpose: To carry out all aspects of floor laying and floor finishing works to a high standard across a variety of commercial and residential sites in London. The Floorer will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of floor coverings including vinyl, carpet, LVT, and safety flooring, responding to reactive maintenance tasks as allocated by the Helpdesk.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, repair, and replace a wide range of floor coverings including vinyl sheet, LVT, carpet tiles, safety flooring, and carpet
- Carry out subfloor preparation including screeding, levelling, and use of self-levelling compounds
- Remove and dispose of existing floor coverings in a safe and compliant manner
- Ensure all flooring installations meet manufacturer specifications and relevant British Standards
- Maintain accurate records of all work undertaken, including completing daily worksheets detailing work carried out and materials used, taking before and after site photos
- Ensure Health and Safety procedures and safe working practices are adhered to at all times, in accordance with all technical standards
- Build positive working relationships with clients and colleagues
- Ensure all work is completed to a high standard of quality and client satisfaction
- Liaise with the Helpdesk and Operations Manager regarding job updates, materials required, and any site issues
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Essential Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Floorer, with competence across multiple floor covering types including vinyl, LVT, carpet tiles, and safety flooring
- Solid understanding of subfloor preparation techniques including screeding and self-levelling compounds
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Full Clean UK Driving Licence
- Solid understanding of the safe use of power and hand tools
- Have a positive ‘can do’ attitude
- Ability to prioritise all allocated work sensibly and efficiently
- A great team player with the ability to work on your own initiative
- Confident using handheld IT equipment – basic understanding of Excel, Outlook, and Word
- Excellent timekeeping and communication skills
- Full industry-recognised qualification to NVQ Level 2 in Floor Laying, or equivalent
- CSCS Card
Desirable Requirements:
- NVQ Level 3 in Floor Laying or equivalent
- Experience working within facilities management would be beneficial
- First Aid certificate
- Asbestos Awareness certificate
- IPAF – Mobile Vertical (3a) + (3b) Mobile Boom certificate
- PASMA – Mobile Access Tower for Users certificate
- Experience with resin flooring or specialist floor systems
Working Days/Hours:
- 45 hours per week. You must be flexible with working days/hours, including early starts, late finishes, and some weekend work.
