This modern hotel features over 140 bedrooms, multiple meeting and event spaces, and a busy food & beverage operation catering to both leisure and corporate guests. With a strong and calm leadership team, this is an ideal role for a Sous Chef seeking long-term stability, team culture, and the chance to work across a variety of services without the pressure of a high-end fine dining kitchen.
About Us: We are a busy, city-centre hotel operating a vibrant food offering including conferences, events, afternoon tea, and seasonal functions. With a terrace area that becomes particularly popular in the summer months, the hotel offers a dynamic yet well-organised working environment. The brigade consists of 9 chefs, led by a highly regarded and calm Head Chef, contributing to a positive atmosphere and low staff turnover. Many team members have been with the business for several years, reflecting the supportive culture and work-life balance on offer.
What We Offer:
- Competitive Salary: £32,000 per annum
- Service Charge: Approximately £80-£100 per month
- Work-Life Balance: Predominantly late shifts (around 12pm starts), minimal mornings

Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen
- Lead and manage a team of chefs across multiple service periods
- Deliver consistent quality across lunch, dinner, events, and afternoon tea
- Assist in overseeing conference and event catering, including seasonal functions
- Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen organisation
- Support training and development of junior team members
- Ensure smooth service during busy seasonal periods such as Easter, summer, and Christmas
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef or strong Junior Sous Chef
- Ideally 2-3 years experience within a similar hotel or high-volume environment
- Proven stability and longevity within previous roles
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Ability to work calmly under pressure in a structured kitchen
- Passion for consistent, quality food rather than fine dining complexity
- Must have the right to work in the UK (sponsorship not available)
