KS Tutoring is expanding its tutor network across Staffordshire and is looking for experienced, reliable and personable tutors to deliver face-to-face educational provision to children and young people.
Our tutors work primarily on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis with learners who may be outside mainstream education, awaiting a suitable placement, require additional SEND support or benefit from a more personalised approach to learning.
Placements are available across Stafford, Cannock, Lichfield, Tamworth, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Stoke-on-Trent and surrounding Staffordshire areas.
The role
Tutors deliver personalised face-to-face sessions based around the individual learner's academic level, interests, needs and educational targets.
Provision may include Maths, English, Functional Skills, GCSE support, re-engagement activities and broader educational development.
Many learners require more than traditional classroom-style teaching. We are therefore looking for tutors who can build positive relationships, adapt sessions when a learner is struggling to engage and create lessons that are structured, encouraging and enjoyable.
Typical responsibilities include:
- Delivering consistent face-to-face 1:1 or 2:1 tuition
- Planning engaging and appropriately differentiated sessions
- Supporting learners with SEND, SEMH or additional educational needs
- Building confidence and helping learners re-engage with education
- Maintaining professional boundaries and safeguarding standards
- Completing clear session reports and progress updates
- Communicating reliably with the KS Tutoring team
- Travelling consistently to agreed Staffordshire placements
Who we're looking for
We welcome applications from qualified teachers, experienced tutors, education professionals, teaching assistants and graduates with strong experience supporting children or young people.
Experience with SEND, Alternative Provision, EHCP learners, Autism, ADHD, SEMH, Functional Skills or learners who have struggled within mainstream education is particularly valuable.
Applicants should be patient, confident, adaptable and able to develop positive professional relationships with learners who may initially be reluctant to engage.
An Enhanced DBS and appropriate safeguarding checks will be required before commencing provision.
Working arrangements
This is a self-employed, contract-based face-to-face tutoring opportunity.
Provision is primarily delivered Monday to Friday between approximately 9:00am and 3:00pm.
Individual placements commonly provide approximately 6-18 hours of tuition per week.
Tutors can decide which placements they wish to accept based on location, availability, experience and suitability. Full placement details, including location, timetable, learner needs and hourly rate, are provided before you agree to a placement.
Once a placement is accepted, consistency and commitment to the agreed timetable are essential.
