This role will involve virtual medication review for patients on repeat prescriptions, handling of acute medication requests, and handling of hospital clinic correspondence e.g. discharge letters and outpatient clinic letters, where relevant, plus practice clinical audit.

The pharmacy technician will work closely with our administrative and clinical teams, with potential for later involvement in face to face chronic disease clinics.

KSMedical Centre is a SystmOne practice within the North Southall Primary Care Network in Ealing Borough, with approximately 5,000 patient practice population. Our practice has been present since the inception of the NHS and is well established in the locality. We have been involved in Imperial College undergraduate medical training and our practice and GP partners have recently received approval for GP registrar training.

Our clinical team of doctors, practice nurses and healthcare assistants is supported in the locality by first contact physiotherapists, social prescribers, and visiting paramedic for patient home visits. Our patient population is ethnically diverse and presents a range of challenges in terms of chronic disease management and acute presentations.

Job responsibilities:

  • GPhC registered pharmacy technician to work with our NHS general practice team in Southall.
  • This role will involve virtual medication review for patients on repeat prescriptions, handling of acute medication requests, and handling of hospital clinic correspondence e.g. discharge letters and outpatient clinic letters, where relevant, plus practice clinical audit.
  • The pharmacy technician will work closely with our administrative and clinical teams, with potential for later involvement in face to face chronic disease clinics.
  • Support and training will be available via the GP partners and senior administrative team.

Person Specification:

  • Qualifications: Candidates must be fluent in English, computer literate, and possess appropriate qualification and registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Ideally, candidates should have had prior experience in general practice.
  • Our practice cares for patients with often substantial medical comorbidity.
  • An understanding of applicable guidelines for safe prescribing, a commitment to ongoing learning, and a willingness to communicate with our clinical team to address challenging clinical contexts and polypharmacy are essential.
  • It is expected that the role will require physical presence in our practice and telephone interaction with patients and community pharmacies.
  • There will also be a potential for involvement in face to face chronic disease clinics at the practice.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
