We are working with a well-established accountancy practice to secure the services of an assistant accountant for their premises on the outskirts of Plymouth. Based in impressive surroundings, the company runs a professional and accurate service for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies. The ideal candidate would be from an accountancy practice; however, industry backgrounds will also be considered. Although the company has over 30 years of experience in accounting, they pride themselves on holding on to family-oriented values and a personal approach to each individual client.
Responsibilities:
- Preparing year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
- Preparing corporation tax and self-assessment tax returns
- Preparing and reviewing bookkeeping and VAT returns
- Working directly with clients and responding to queries
- Assisting and reviewing the work of junior staff where appropriate
Requirements:
- Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in an accountancy practice
- Experience preparing statutory accounts
- Knowledge of software such as Xero, QuickBooks and Sage
- Strong communication and organisational skills
