We’re looking for a qualified accountant with at least three years’ experience working in banking to join our Finance team as a Senior Financial Accountant.
The successful candidate will take ownership of key financial accounting activities, support month end and year end reporting and maintain effective financial controls.
You will also help implement accounting processes for new products and transactions, improve existing processes and support automation across Finance.
How you will contribute and key responsibilities
As a Senior Financial Accountant, you will help ensure Kroo Bank delivers accurate, complete and timely financial reporting.
You will take responsibility for key elements of the month end and year end close, maintain strong balance sheet controls and ensure the integrity of financial data.
You will support technical accounting assessments and ensure new products and material transactions are appropriately accounted for.
Working closely with colleagues across Finance, Treasury, Risk and Operations, you will contribute to financial reporting, process improvements and finance transformation initiatives.
Your responsibilities will include
- Prepare and manage key elements of the month end and year end close processes
- Prepare financial reporting, management information and supporting analysis
- Maintain and enhance financial accounting processes and controls
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, including loans, deposits, derivatives and other financial instruments
- Reconcile and monitor loan portfolios, provisions and related balances
- Support impairment assessments and loan loss provisioning
- Prepare technical accounting papers and document accounting judgements where required
- Implement accounting and financial control processes for new products and initiatives
- Ensure the completeness and accuracy of financial data and investigate discrepancies
- Support the preparation of statutory financial statements and associated disclosures
- Assist with external audit, internal audit and regulatory reporting requirements
- Respond to accounting and reporting queries across the bank
- Drive automation to improve reporting, reconciliations, controls and month end efficiency
- Support system improvements and finance transformation projects
- Work closely with stakeholders across Finance, Risk, Treasury and Operations
Requirements
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent)
- At least 2/3 years’ experience working in banking, with relevant financial accounting, reporting or financial control responsibilities
- Strong understanding of IFRS and its application within a banking environment
- Strong understanding of banking products and their accounting treatment, including loans, deposits and treasury assets such as covered bonds and RMBS
- Experience of month end and year end reporting, balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls
- Experience with impairment and loan loss provisioning is highly desirable
- A background in financial services audit at a Big Four or other accountancy firm would be beneficial
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- A proactive approach to process improvement and automation
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Advanced Excel skills, with experience of other reporting, automation or AI tools beneficial

Hybrid Working
This role is based in London and follows our hybrid working policy, combining remote working with time in our Farringdon office.
We currently expect office attendance approximately once a month, with arrangements agreed to support the needs of the role and team.
The role operates Monday to Friday.
