Responsibilities
- Structure, negotiate and draft strategic commercial agreements including customer, supplier and distributor contracts
- Provide clear direction and strategic know-how to our European leadership team on commercial matters
- Manage disputes and litigation to achieve a practical and cost-effective result.
- Advise on legal risk and ethical compliance in Europe including anti‑corruption laws, EUDR and Code of Conduct
- Oversee Mergers and Acquisitions
- Monitor legal changes within the industry and implement any necessary changes, or challenge any prospective changes that may impact the organisation’s operations.
- Providing support to internal and external audit
- Oversee the hiring of internal legal staff. Leading the team by example.
Requirements
- You will be a qualified solicitor with at least 8 years PQE, some of which will be have been in a General Counsel or Deputy GC role
- You will have excelled academically when achieving your law qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in European corporate and commercial law
- 1st class English is essential, additional language skills are also desirable
- Ideally, you will be experienced in the manufacturing sector
- Operating from a local manufacturing site you will need to be prepared for significant travel
