As the world leader in the production of wood-based panel products, we are seeking a loyal, conscientious and analytical individual to support the management of our Resin and Formalin department, driving efficiency, quality and safety across the plant.

Job Description

  • Support the Resin and Formalin Manager in the day-to-day running of the Resin and Formalin Plants.
  • Supervise and coordinate plant operators, assigning priorities to meet production demand.
  • Troubleshoot routine production issues, breakdowns and batch recovery.
  • Investigate and resolve quality issues, ensuring output stays within set control parameters.
  • Develop and trial new resin recipes to solve MDF, PB and VITS production challenges and improve chemical consumption and efficiency.
  • Organise and prioritise routine and breakdown maintenance alongside the Plant Manager.
  • Maintain high standards of plant safety, housekeeping and compliance (COMAH, IPPC) at all times.
  • Manage stock control, chemical ordering and month-end stock reporting.
  • Support shutdown planning and execution.
  • Liaise with external agencies as required.
  • Coach, train and support the appraisal of technicians and operators.
  • Provide shift cover on a relief basis where required.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years' experience in a Formalin and Resin (or similar chemical process) plant.
  • Degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Science or Engineering, or substantial relevant in-job experience.
  • Working knowledge of formalin process and product chemistry.
  • Familiarity with relevant legislation, engineering standards and COMAH principles.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office; experience with Siemens control and batch control systems is an advantage.
  • Strong people-management skills, with the ability to lead, coach and motivate a team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the business.
  • A proactive, analytical approach with the ability to work under pressure and resolve issues efficiently.
