The Senior CAD designer is involved in all phases of a design project and focuses mainly on the drawings for the design or renovation of internal spaces, which may include demolition, structural alterations, furnishings, fixtures and fittings, lighting and general design detailing. Designs are produced for hospitality, commercial, leisure and residential projects. The Senior CAD Designer prepares and executes all documentation and drawings, overseeing these aspects of the project from beginning to end.

Responsibilities

The Senior CAD Designer will plan and organize the design drawings for the interiors of the project assigned.

Projects include:

  1. Hospitality (hotels and F&B)
  2. Private residences and residential developments
  3. Office spaces
  4. Retail locations, e.g. malls, shops, cafes, forecourts

Developing initial drawing list for the project.

Preparing detailed working drawings, designs, plans, models and schemes, using computer-aided design (CAD) software.

Maintaining quality of drawings, details and standards.

Surveying buildings and attending site to ensure all details and existing conditions are captured (if required).

Attend Weekly Resource Meetings: Make sure to attend the weekly resource meeting organized by any or all studio you are working with. Take notes and understand the deliverables expected from your team for the upcoming week(s).

Work with Lead Designers: Collaborate closely with lead designers to understand project requirements thoroughly. Assess the manpower needed for each specific project based on its complexity and timeline.

Gather Necessary Information: Ensure that you have all the required information and drawings needed for your team\’s assigned work for the upcoming week. If anything is missing, communicate with relevant stakeholders to obtain it promptly.

Provide Weekly Updates: Keep your direct reports informed about project progress and any technical issues that may arise. Regular communication is key to keeping everyone aligned and addressing challenges effectively.

Evaluate Team Performance: Regularly assess your team members\’ performance and provide constructive feedback. Recognize their achievements and areas for improvement to help them grow professionally.

Mentor Team Members: Mentor your team members on a daily basis, addressing any issues or clarifications they may need as they work on specific projects. This ongoing support will contribute to their continuous development and improve overall team performance.

Supervise CAD Work: Oversee CAD work during the design stage and, if necessary, on-site to ensure accuracy and adherence to project requirements.

Assist CAD Coordinator: Support the CAD coordinator in addressing inquiries related to the technical drawing component of your specific project. Share your expertise and provide guidance to ensure the smooth execution of CAD-related tasks.

Working with Designers, Technical Designers, FF&E Designers and other design professionals in-house or from suppliers or manufacturers to determine the best detailed solutions for any of the elements for the project.

Keeping up to date with new developments in the design industry.

Train on Revit to understand the software and program.
